Unhappy anyone know any locksmiths?

i lost the keys to my 79, need to swap out the lock cylinders, anyone know how to without damaging the car?

the door lock cylinders, trunk lock cylinder as well as the ignition cylinder needs to be swapped out.

if anyone knows how to or knows a locksmith please let me know.

if you were closer i'd grab all my gm keys and try them

Yeah if you have a really worn Gm key it can work somewhat like a master key on alot of older cars . . . worth a shot .

Most of its pretty easy. Door locks you just gotta take off the door panels. Trunk you will either have to take out the back seats (good time to look for a build sheet) and using a long something unlatch the trunk or drill the lock out. The ign you *need* the key for to remove it. Try another GM key and hope your tumblers are stuck. Otherwise Im gonna tell you to drill it out. Or, you might be able to find a key # on the cylinders and then take that to a locksmith or GM and get another key. Pull a door lock out since its easiest before you do anything else. I dont remember if its on them though.

thanks i may do it that way cory, but i did call a locksmith and for 125 theyll rekey all the locks so it may be worht it to not go through the hassle of drilling and disasembling things, ill think about it.

hi

At some point or the other, every individual will find the need for a locksmith. Interestingly enough, a locksmith was called a locksmith early on as they were blacksmiths who actually also made keys.
