Anyone else see the 05 Mustang(s) yet?
Anyone else see the 05 Mustang(s) yet?
I've only seen one so far, a silver GT (I think). Pretty sweet looking car in person!
But it has dealer plates.
Anyone else see them zipping around?

Re: Anyone else see the 05 Mustang(s) yet?
There was one parked that I got a good look at inside and out in town here.......silver GT also.
The fellow who owns it was showing it off to a bunch of people, it had the 5speed auto.
I'm not all that excited about them.:blah:

Re: Anyone else see the 05 Mustang(s) yet?
seen a black gt driving in mission today, i like the front half of the car but not the back half. and i really hate that little side window. would look a lot better if the glass wasnt rounded at the corners.
Re: Anyone else see the 05 Mustang(s) yet?
ya ive seen alot of them if they had a wheel & tire package, lowered about 3 inches they would look alright... but im not a big fan

I saw a little v6 the other day and thought it was rather fugly...
maybe with some wheels and lowered they could be a wee bit more desiring but man, it sure makes me appreciate the pontiac/chevy even more..!!

Re: Anyone else see the 05 Mustang(s) yet?
The dealership on the corner of 152 st just down from Guildford Mall has a burgundy GT in front. Looks ok, however I'm not a huge fan of the rear 1/4 area. Price I think is in the high 30s for the GT model. Havent seen any on the street, nor any C6 Vettes yet, either.
Re: Anyone else see the 05 Mustang(s) yet?
They retained the solid rear on the base and GT models. Next year, the Cobra will have a IRS. Cost wise, that arrangement made sense to them. The reviews of the solid axle have been quite good.
Re: Anyone else see the 05 Mustang(s) yet?
Stopped by that dealership, the GT is sold, but they have a base Mustang in the showroom. Sat in it, poked around under the hood. Thoughts: car seems quite large and tall, compared to the older model. Inside, the plastic is hard, with sharp edges, and quite a cheap feel to it. Car had the chrome dash treatment, which does nothing for me. Seats were comfortable, nice leather, firm bolsters. Car does not have a trunk release, its on the key fob only. Inside room is ok, more than the old Mustang. Under the hood, the engine is fully exposed, seems relatively easy to work on. Maintenance areas are clearly marked in yellow. Fit and finish seems acceptable. Price on the GT is in the high $30s. Available in (among others) competition yellow (the same bright yellow as on the F150 trucks), a pale silvery blue and a strange goldish yellow. Also two shades of red. I commented to Lorie afterward that if I had a choice, I would buy a nice used 4th Gen F-body, a superior design in many areas, IMO, and I'm not just saying that as a died in the wool GM owner.
Re: Anyone else see the 05 Mustang(s) yet?
This new retro-stang at least looks better than the previous models although I didn't climb inside like you Pat. I concur what you guys said like it's too high, wheels too small and not enough power, 300hp doesn't get my motor running and high 30's? Wow, I scored a new firehawk for that price.
That little side and rear window must present a huge blind spot too, the interior looks cheap but I'm sure they will improve with time. A GT40 it's not but wait for the new Cobra or the limited Shelby that's coming back so I'll save my final evaluation till then.

Re: Anyone else see the 05 Mustang(s) yet?
i dont do my home work on ford, lol. i just read in an article in the paper that stated ford went to the solid rear from the irs, so i assumed the previous models were irs.
Re: Anyone else see the 05 Mustang(s) yet?
I looked at the new stang again yesterday at Ford. Actually there is no blind spot in the rear, f/bodys are much worse for this with the pillar. Base price on the GT is up only $300.00 and hp jumps from 260 to 300. The black GT I saw stickered for just over 35 grand. That chrome trim around the dash doesn't appeal to me either. Door speakers aren't molded as nice as newer birds. Still waiting to see the new limited Shelby GT coming out next year, that one will kick butt. I guess Ford plans on selling lots of retro-stangs before the new Cobra hits the streets too.

Re: Anyone else see the 05 Mustang(s) yet?
I saw one in Seattle the otehr day, and two up here last night. Look great, IMO, with the head lights on the grill and tail light set up. The wheels filled the wells good, but the only thing is that the rims looked real lame. Probably some of the worst mags stock I have ever seen (next to z28 00-02 rims). The tires looked like minivan tires rather than low profile stuff.
