I would LOVE to do that as well. I would race the TA at a wide open track but I cannot put htis car into the wall at MRP.

One day though, I'm gonna do that racing.

Lets have a BCTFB race car. Everyone put in $500 and lets build us a road race car LOL

Come out to MRP on the next two road-race weekends, 6/7 Sept. and 18/19 October. I'll be glad to show you the ropes. We share the IROC; I'm crew-chief for the next race (Sept.) then driver in the last race of the year in October. Dennis and I are planning a trip to California next year to do the Camaro Mustang Challenge like in the promo video, but at Laguna Seca.

"One Day" will never get here if you don't look for it...

Id like to come out and watch you tear it up

This american iron series looks like its structured very well to keep costs down , atleast in AI with the 9.5:1 cap . Make sure you get a video camera in your car for the camaro VS mustang race

Yep, I'll install my camera for that trip for sure.

Both AI and AIX can be very expensive because there is no practical limit on mods. Cubic $ = BHP. At least with CMC you are prevented from going wild on expensive mods. Here in the BC/Wash races we have "Production" and "Improved Production" which really are entry level classes. Even then, to go with the big boys in B or C Production (F-Bodies) takes about 18 to 20 grand when you finally tally it up. Much cheaper for rice burners of course.

Any thoughts. I'm thinking about it although still a long way from writing the cheque

Yeah, Gary Watson owns it. Built from an ICBC write off. Looks real good. He will deal on it. It has a couple of things that are not quite right for the classes he runs in (C Production & IP1). He has big brakes that violate the rules 'cause he had to modify the mounting points and you aren't supposed to do that. He made a few other interesting moves that may cause the car to be disqualified from a win in the very strict production classes. Everybody cheats a little though... He's a great guy. If my wife wouldn't give me .303 lead poisoning I'd think about that car too...

Check This Out if you haven't seen it.

Wow that is a nice car . Too nice to smack around on a track

Check out his spring combos . . .

800 lb Hypercoil front springs
Stock 114 lb rear springs (cut 1-1/2 coils)
Thats the most aggresive front to back Ive seen yet .

Is there a link to the production class rules for out here . I have a mustang shell just sitting at work that is clean and screaming for a cage but it was a 4cyl . Does this limit the engine I can place into it . I noticed on the AI / AIX rules the mustang guys are now allowed to upgrade to the 03 cobra full independent rear . You would think that would give a large advantage , although expensive $$$

About what does it cost you guys to kep your car an the track and competative ?? How long will an engne last ??

[I think you're missing the point of RR ! The idea is NOT to hit other cars or the walls ! Maybe there's too much NASCAR on TV...
The whole idea is car control, the stewards will black flag you right off the track, and you may be suspended if you can't stay away from other guys fenders!]

[Sorry, the rules are not on the net. They are quite extensive due to all the various classes. I hold both CACC (Confederation of Automotive Car Clubs) and ICSCC (International Conference of Sports Car Clubs) race licences and have their rule books of course. You'll have to PM me or get together if you want to ask questions about actually building a car. Too much typing for sure.]

[I've raced against both straight-axle and IRS type Mustangs: There is no help for those poor buggers, that car has a very pronounced tendency to spin and not come back if pushed too hard. The IRS can handle rough tracks better, but can't make up for the short wheelbase. I always laugh when it rains because I know the Mustangs will be looping all over the place!!]

[Depends how many drivers and how many races entered. Zero $ to leave it in the barn, heavy costs if used every weekend all season. Tires and brakes are the main costs. Engines will last a very long time in the production classes because there are no drag-starts, lots of warm up and cool down time, and no reason to powershift or slam the car around. Just watch the shift light and change the oil a lot!]

Great info !! Have any pics of your car ?? What I meant by "smack around" was that accedents happen and when your pushing the edge your bound to get tangled up with someone / something . I didnt mean days of thunder racing
