another good series is the CamaroMustangChallenge , also by NASA..

The rules are more limiting, and so its easier on the budget in building a competative car..

The f-bod's do have better suspension stock, especailly out back than the Mustangs do.... but this does not stop the Mustangs in CMC in taking the checkered flag..

All the events are mostly in Cali though, a little far... If I had the time and the budget, I wuoldn't mind getting a good used CMC f-bod, and also getting some extra seat time in SCCA ITE...

If you know about the original 1LE R7U GM/Players Series cars, you'll remember they were equipped with non-standard everything from the floor pan down (like ours is). It has twin piston PBR brakes pretty much identical to the newer F & Y-bodies, special front chassis stiffener bar, aluminum D/S, Auburn-type Aussie 9-bolt rear end with safer axle retention, Bilstein shocks, and our springs are cut down 1 coil too. It works great, but I can't tell you what a standard-issue 3rd gen Camaro/Firebird would be like without those parts installed. We also have a very stiff cage that makes the car almost flex-proof too. It handles like a large go-kart really, especially since I welded the rear (so its like a spool). Pushes a little in the rain, but a real predictable, safe car that can power out of any corner.

I have lots of video (non-digital) of me passing Mustangs which is my main pleasure in life...
