8 hours later I finally got my headers to fit. Sort of...
I got my engine in and the damn drivers side header would not fit. So, thinking that it can't be that hard to do motor mounts I bought a nice set of Energy Suspension motor mounts. Well, it turns out that the nuts for the motor mount bolts are inside the cross member
5 hours later I finally managed to get the nicely rusted lock nuts out, losing a couple of the nuts inside the cross member in the process. With the help of a now destroyed distributor wrench (from hammering it onto slightly too large metric nuts) I was able to get the mounts in, in just an hour and a half. Another hour and a half later I finally managed to wrestle the motor onto both mounts.
My headers fit better, but not quite properly yet, so I'm gonna have to put a torch to the A-arm mount and bash it in a quarter of an inch.
Never again do I want to do f@#$ing motor mounts on a second gen camaro.
It appears that all I have to do now is tighten the harmonic ballancer so it lines up with the other pullies, wire the distributor, wire the starter, install a new fuel pump, get a shiny chrome dipstick
, pour oil and coolant, and hook up the carb (hopefully I can figure out how to do that one... I'm pretty much clueless as to where what lines have to go
So close to running! woo hoo!

oh and erik, if your having the problem i think your having with those headers, theres a support beam that goes from the crossmember to the frame, its a little pinner looking thing. that needs to be removed to fit in aftermarket long tube headers, you dont need it in, i removed mine, it should say in the instructions on the header if you got ones specifically made for a 2nd gen
