168th st accident in surrey

anyone know anyone that is 24 and drives a red firebird
i am hoping it is not one of us. i know sandeep has a red one and i am hoping it wasn't him. dunno how old he is though.

last night at like 10 or something a red firebird and a 5.0 hit head on, i knew some of the people in the stang from school. one i know his older sister and see him at my gym all the time (he is the only one still alive). the driver of the stang (i think anyways) was another guy i knew threw the first guy i talked about. another one was one my brother soccer team, and the fourth i didn't know. that last 3 and the driver of the firebird are all dead, and the other guy i know is in critical, most likely to die or come out with major brain damage

ok so it wasn't head on. the mustang tried to pass the firebird and the firebird speed up, and the stang tried to get infront of him but clipped him and then the span and hit. or something like that.

All the news reports I heard this morning said it was a Camaro, but the paper said it was a Firebird. What kind of simpleton would confuse the two?

I do not think it was Sandeep. His profile says he is 28 years old, not 24....

I don't know many of the details. I'll look for more.

What bothers me about this (other than the deaths) is that in virtualy any other accident, the most specific detail you'd get about the cars is like "a pickup truck" or "a small minivan" or "a motorcycle" was involved in a high speed accident - but when it is a musclecar involved, suddenly the media has to SPECIFICALLY state that it was a Mustang and a Camaro (or Firebird). It's no wonder insurance rates go up on these cars because the media JUMPS all over the story when they hear that the vehicles involved in an accident are of the stereotypically "dangerous" type.

If it was a Honda, nothing would be said about the type of car (other than maybe that it was a high-priced sports car). But since it is a Mustang/Camaro, then all of a sudden the media has to state this and a larger stigma is created in the public's eye towards us. Perhaps I am exaggerating slightly, but I believe the effect is still there.

Sorry for the divergence Blair and sorry to hear that you had a connection to the people.

Thanks for the concern guys. Now I feel all fuzzy and warm inside. No it wasn't me although it seems to have litterally happened up the stree from me just as I was comin home from school. And yes I am 27, 28 in may. Chris I know how you feel. Media always screws things up. My wife heard about it this morning, on the radio, on her way to work but didn't hear all the details. All she heard was red firebird, mustang and 168 (our street) She freaked thinking it was me on my way to work this morning
Guys I think we need to come up with a way to let people know that we are not a menance on the street. But, that also carries a huge responsibility by sticking by our guns and NOT street racing. Especially on small roads like 168!

the fact that they were all young doesn't help. they woulda reported it anyways, if it was any old car. there was 4 kids that died. just like last year in a pos car, it was reported.

i just saw it on the news and the other guys name was brice norquist. didn't see any pics of the firebird, just the cut in half stang
:/

i knew you lived near it so that is what made me think even more of it being you. i thought you were on 176 near kal though. guess not

Kal lives almost right behind me. yeah it sucks when kids that young lose their lives over something that is easily preventable.

Actually the cops are saying that the pusstang was going south and passed someone and got tail happy ( a fox body with uncontrolable oversteer... hard to imagine huh? ) and then got Tboned by the guy in the Fbody who was going north. Noticed in the pic the the Fbody has a rollcage. Too bad that 3 kids from tweedsmuir died but they shouldnt be flying the flag at half mast.

give me one good reason why they shouldn't have the flag at half mast? ( you are talking about at tweedy right?) 3 students died and possibly a fourth. hell, if one student dies that is a good enough reason for the school to do it. yes it was stupid and very preventable, but that doesn't mean the flag mussent go down.

about the details, that is just from what i heard from some people that i know from tweedsmuir, they said other wise on the news, like you said.

It has nothing to do with the fact that kids died or not. You cannot legally fly the flag at halfmast without permission.

That a good enough reason? . I was talking to a cop today and he said the mustang was going south and the Fbody north... doesnt mean its right though.
