Two Z-28's
Hello, My name is Bob W. and I live in northwest Indiana. I have a 1980 Z-28 and a 1979 Z-28. The '79 is mostly stock, the '80 I got crazy with. I purchased another '79 Z-28 roller. I picked up an LT-1 from a 1996 Impala SS since I've heard from other Camaro /GM owners how good these engines are. I've never done a swap for a non-fuel injected car and added a fuel injected motor. My '80 has a bolt on injection system, so I understand EFI, I just never had to get a harness and PCM modified to work on an older car. SO if anyone has any ideas or knows the best route to modify the harness and PCM, please let me know. I'm in no hurry to finish the engine mods, car needs paint and all the fun little gaps made correct. Thanks for any help and ideas in advance.

Welcome to the board.
The lt1 is basicly a straight forward transplant. SBC just controlled by a computer is all. There is differences between the Camaro lt1 and the impala lt1 and between the years of both vehicles so be sure to read up on that. Some of the main things to be concerned about are the throttle linkage depending on what trans you use. The height of how the engine sits. Other than that its all nic nac stuff.
94 Z28 A4 known mods... reworked ported heads/intake. Cam, 3" cat back flowmaster. unknown PCM tune. still researching car. ...
1990 RS HO 305, TH350(shift kit). 4 barrel carb, Cam, Long tube headers.

Welcome to Camaro28.com!!
Just remember - the Impala LT1 has heavy cast iron heads, while the Corvette and Camaro/Firebird LT1's have aluminum heads, higher compression ratio and a more aggressive cam. Great engine in either case, but the devil is in the details.
