hey i am new to this forum but hope to meet some new buds soon

I dont own an f-body yet but am in the market and have located one likely new addition to my garage i would like some feed back befor i purchase

it is a 95 pontiac trans am with an lt1 5.7L with 98K on it the body is in very good shape and the t-tops dont even leak yet the interior is tan with no major drawbacks except the driver leather seat is torn. everything is in good running condition exept the oil has not been changed for well awhile and it is running open headers

only one other thing its metallic purple i have heard some rumors about that color

the guy wants 3700 for it plus tax and title i can get him 3500 out the door but would like some feed back from someone that knows about these cars
please mesg me if you can help

$3500 for a '95 TA is a pretty good deal, and 98k is fairly low for a '95 anything.

If you can find a '97 you can afford, they made the interiors nicer that year. If you can find a '98, they replaced the 275-285hp LT1 engine with the 340hp LS1 engine (it was rated 305-325 from the factory, but it was underrated and 340 is closer to the truth) and changed the exterior styling.

If you can afford an LS1 model and plan to do much in the way of power modifications, they used a new engine computer in '99 that is easier to tune.

Finally, in 2001, they revised the camshaft, intake manifold, and factory tune for a bit more power and improved low-RPM drivability (this makes the biggest difference if you're looking at manual transmissions).

Whatever you decide, enjoy it! These cars are addicting!
