I'd say it is, especially if you haven't gone for a test drive. I'm not an expert but I'm mechanically inclined and when I bought my Z from "a family member" of my wife's, it began to run hot after I fixed some minor glitches to crank it up. The first time it ran hot on the owner was during the test drive, which isn't an expensive fix in my book. So give careful consideration to what is "on the surface".
