OK.... It's been 25 years since I last owned anything even close to a muscle car. My first car was a beautiful '69 RS, after that a '69 Z28. That led to a series of Chevy's, Fords and even a few Mopar's. (Old Hemi's rule). I could fill my own website with what went on (the legal parts anyway). It ended quickly and once it was over I never looked back.
Apparently, Moroso Octane Booster runs in my blood because in spite of never having been exposed to it, my 17 year old son has grown into something of a motorhead. He was about 10 years old when he saw the first pix of my Camaro's and he has yet to forgive me for selling them.
He now has his sights set on a 1995 Z28 LT1 six speed. I drove it yesterday and WOW. We pick the beast up tomorrow. It has 120k miles on it and needs some work but goes like hell. Suddenly I'm looking forward to working on a car again.
What I need from all of you is assurance that, although I am indeed crazy, bI am not alone.
I'll be all over these websites looking for advice and encouragement.
I can ramble in writing but I'm not big on the whole web posting thing so bear with me.

You are not alone. Your story sounds like mine. I was out of the loop for 10-15 years when I came upon the LT1. I've had it for 6-7 years now. I never get tired of driving it. One thing you will find out soon enough is that working on the LT1 is not quite the same as the "back in the day".
It's kind of a love , hate relationship with these things. Welcome and have fun !

Yup the plugs and wires alone on these things if you've never done it or don't know what to expect can be a nightmare. Patience and plenty of cold beer will help the process move right along.
Congrats on the new toy and have fun!

Don't expect parts to be as cheap for the LT1 compared to the older camaro's because they are not. And working on it is a PITA, but when they run good its all smiles. When i bought mine i went through the entire car to make sure it was good to go.
Quick rundown of the maintenance jobs if your curious- Oil change is cake (thank goodness because i do it every 1000mi). Plugs and wires are a disaster. Opti is a disaster. Serp belt is easy. Coolant change is simple enough just messy. Rear end oil change isn't too bad (wish there was a drain plug). Trans fluid change is easy. Thermostat is easy.

Welcome, I drive a 95Z, LT-1, M6, it's my daily driver. I love this friggin thing. I'm sure you and the kid will enjoy yours. Sure the LT-1 isn't a cheap motor to maintain, but neither are car payments or maintanence on a new car.
