How rare is a 1996 Firehawk
How rare is a 1996 Firehawk
Hi Im trying to help a friend who,s husband died, and she was left with a 1996 garage kept firehawk that looks really well kept and only has 76,000 miles on it. I have no idea of the worth or where to sell it for her. Any suggestions???
Re: How rare is a 1996 Firhawk
Probably worth $5-8k depending on the condition.
I'd try listing it in popular distribution channels: craigslist, newspaper, cars.com, eBay, CamaroZ28.com classifieds, firehawk.org, etc.

In the right circles, a 1996 Firehawk could be worth more than $5 - 8K, especially if it's well kept and clean. The thing is, it's a niche market. You need to get plugged into the correct market and advertise it properly. The SLP Firehawks and the Comp TAs were really good in their day, and from what I hear, very fun to drive. It wouldn't surprise me of there are only fifty or sixty of the '96 Firehawks in existence.
If you are going to try and sell it, you need to make sure it's detailed nicely, and you need really, really good photographs. No cell phone pictures. You want a good digital SLR camera with an 18-55mm lens, a low sun angle, some good scenery for a backdrop. Fresh polish, clean windows inside & out, glossy sidewalls on the tires, etcetera.
You will want to find the documentation packet, photograph a picture of a couple of the documents as proof that the car is documented (invoices, sales receipts, maintenance records, etc.). This stuff matters to someone who is shopping for a limited series vehicle like a Firehawk, and these extra details can influence the selling price by 20 - 30%.
Once you have the car detailed, your photo shoot done, and your marketing packet together, then you may want to pay $100 or so to get the car professionally appraised. Then you'll have an idea of what it's worth. Take the appraisal, drop the price 15% or so, and make that your starting point of where to set the sales price. Now you'll be ready to start advertising.

Its really gonna depend whos gonna see the add . So advertise wisely, and spend some time doing some homework. Your average F-body enthusist is not gonna pay a premium for a LT1 firehawk, no matter how rare it is. To where your average joe may appreciate its uniqueness more , and a Firehawk enthusist most likely would for sure...the Firehawk crowd seems to be pretty passionate about their cars.
I do believe correct production#'s for 96 is 41 cars built . There were actually more Comp T/A's built that year at 45 .
