Hello from Florida

Hi All,
New member here but long time Camaro owner. I’m about to restore/return to driving condition my 97 Z28.

I’m the original owner, spent about 3 months of lunchtime visits to dealerships and test drives of everything from Mitsubishi 3000gt, Mustangs, Corvettes, 300zx’s before I finally settled on the Z28.

Went back and forth at the end between Corvette and Camaro.

Corvette lost because I didn’t like the digital dash and with 1 kid and another on the way, the 2 seater was about like having another motorcycle. Glad I made that decision as a Vette would have been sold long ago as the 3 kids started growing.

The ability to research all ordering options and invoice prices via the internet was just becoming a thing and with a dealership and salesman that was aggressively going after internet sales, i was able to sit with him at his computer

as we selected the exact options i wanted. Wish i had gone with the 30th anniversary white and orange but wife hated it so my second choice was Sebring Silver.

148,000 miles on it now and it’s been sitting for the last few years. Interior will have to be replaced and the clearcoat is flaking off badly.

Not sure on Engine yet, that will be the first thing I do. If it seems ok, I’ll move on to suspension, then interior, then exterior.

Not really a ‘car guy’, expert or mechanic, but a hobbiest who does a lot of different projects, from boats to bicycles to building guitars to motorcycles to building kayaks and paddle boards. So this is another project where i have a lot to learn.

Anyway... long story but glad to be here and looking to get a lot of help here! And will provide some if i can.

Welcome to the board! I started my car a couple of years ago after it had sat, take a look: 1997 Project. These cars can be a blast, and also make you want to tear your hair out, but I suppose that is half the fun!

Wow! Thats a heck of a lot of work you’ve done! I should start a build thread like thar though. Just to document the process. I have put a battery and new fuel pump (and new gas) in it and it started right up. Drove it around my neighborhood enough to feel pretty goid about it.
