Back after 3.5 years....
Forgot I even had an account here, until I tried to register again using the same email
According to the little box in the upper right, last time I was here was 4-10-2008, which was right about the time I sold the '93. Some time has passed, I've moved to Detroit, and I recently found myself with a blown engine in my Volvo 850 turbo wagon...a friend came to the rescue, and I picked up a '96 Z28 M6, It's been sitting for a while, is in desperate need of a good cleaning, and basic maintenance stuff (running super rich, missing a bit at high RPMs, blown header to head gaskets...), but overall is a strong runner otherwise if I don't think about the 12MPG it's currently getting.
So anyways, saying hi again :P

Re: Back after 3.5 years....
Actually, yeah...I could use a hand replacing that header gasket, especially since it's on the passenger side. I got the driver's side in myself last weekend, and that was a real bear to get everything lined up again. I'll be in Brighton until 6 tonight, so unless you're a late night guy, I was planning on doing it tomorrow if you are someone else would be available?
Re: Back after 3.5 years....
yeah id be up for it, sorry for the late reply, i havent checked on this in awhile...
but i need some help with mine too, mine keeps getting warm and shutting itself down... after about a mile or so.

Re: Back after 3.5 years....
lol, no worries...obviously I'm not too quick on the replies myself either :P I ended up taking care of that gasket myself a while back, although I think I'll be doing the driver's side again shortly - had problems with the bolts loosening up on that side, and it's running rich/fouling plugs on that side again
As for yours, do you have to let it cool down before it restarts? Assuming it's not overheating, may be the ignition module. These cars are known for problems with it, due to the location right on the end of the head (WTF were the engineers thinking on that one?!??). Assuming a '94 uses the same one as a '96, we could always swap mine in to test it, plus I have a spare too.
Oh, and the pictures I forgot -
What I started with:

After an afternoon washing and LOTS of hand rubbing with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound followed by waxing:

It's not showroom by any means, but looks a hell of a lot better than before, and I don't feel like I'm driving a white trash special anymore, lol
