1993 z28

Hey everyone, I am looking at a 1993 Z28. Only 5,400 miles on the clock and one owner (North Carolina car). I am looking for a cruiser/tinkerer, but I would like to eke out some more hp from the engine and do some suspension mods. The seller wants 18k, but I think that's high. It's an auto and not the 6-speed manual, and will not be a daily driver.

This is my first F-body. I don't have the cash to look for the holy grail, just looking for the gateway drug into the collector car scene. I have always loved this gen Camaro / Firebird and the one I am looking at seems like a gem. I have the time to play around with it.

Any thoughts/opinions?

Thanks in advance. I have enjoyed reading through many of the posts here and hope to be a contributor in the future.

Welcome to the board!

Everyone has opinions...

That said, I have a 1994 Z28 (instead of 1993) because of the "able to be updated/reprogrammed" computer. Someone with more knowledge may correct me but I believe the 1993 version has a chip rather than a firmware/programming upgradeable computer.

Welcome to CamaroZ28.com ! ! !

I think a basically stock 93 with that low mileage is so far outside the “norm”, that price/value is not going to be something most people could estimate. Additionally altering it from pure stock (if that’s what it is) is going to reduce the value of the car.

93 requires a new chip to change the program for performance modifications. However, there is still at least one reliable mail order tuner that burns chips for the 93.

Re: 1993 z28

Thanks for your replies. They wouldn't budge on the price at all. The dealer had a lot of classic cars in stock and they could let it sit.

Fortunately, I found a 1995 Z28 only 10 minutes from where I work. One owner, 6 speed, 56K miles with a price a lot more in line with what these cars are going for as of late. Going to test drive it tomorrow. Hopefully, we can work out a deal.

If do purchase it, I will probably be on these boards a whole lot more.

Thanks again!
