Question Thoughts about the MOT please

Our club has been approached to co-host the F-Body Day show at the Museum of Transportation in 2004. We did it 2 years ago, last year we left it to the ECCC, and there was a very small showing. The rules for the show have changed - it's now peer judging. I'm on the fence as to if I want our club to be involved --- and thoughts before I finalize our decision?

What did the members of your club want to do?

I went down there last year. Was nice to see the Fbody's but as you mentioned the turnout was smaller than what I have typically see for MOT shows. I am not sure why the MOT show doesn't draw more peopl, especially from this board. My car wasn't in 'show' shape, but I still wanted to go and support. Maybe we could make some kind of MOT show/BBQ/Dyno day or something and caravan over? We have plenty of kick a$$ cars on this board that should go!

"Clubs" and judging aside, after the way things went down 2 years ago, I as well as many other f-bod owners that I know would not attend. You could say that it was in MOTs hands and that these comments are only sour grapes, but things could have been corrected that day by the sponsoring "Clubs", your hands were not tied ....and on the smallest of levels to top it off, we had to beg for dash plaques weeks after.

Good luck should you take it on this year...

It was the museum who provided the dash plaques. They did not order them in time for the show. I contacted the museum several times to make sure that the plaques did go out when they came in, as I know how important plaques are to people. The judging was also the museum's call - as they wanted 100 point judging. Our response to some people's feedback was to remove the 100 point judging (which is how all of their shows are judged) and change it to peer judging for their next show. Our club was not involved in last year's show. The turnout was very low, and I believe to a degree there were mostly Camaros again. In regards to correcting anything that day, myself and the ECCC President were available as well as the Museum event director to speak to. I answered as many questions, comments and concerns as I have received. I believe our club did our part in sponsoring the show, the Museum ran it. We have our own show in July, which is plenty for us. If I wasn't concerned about people's thoughts on the show I certainly wouldn't post asking about it. My goal has always been to create memorable, good time events for Firebird enthusiasts and whomever else is interested in events we are involved with. I personally spend a lot of time doing the very best I can, we haven't been around since 1998 for nothing.

couldnt have said it better myself..Jeff thats why I didnt go again last year. NOT FUN...and yes a low turnout why? as I left I asked a few people and from what I remember they all but said they would not come next year it was a joke...

all I can remember was points being taken off for grass clippings on a tire..WTF?? you serious???

Roxxie Ill be in Fla. by that time next year so just giving a suggestion...make it relaxed and have a juding feild and a open show for fun. that way 10 foot cars like mine can participate (they look good from 10 feet away.)

again just a suggestion..give it a cruise night approch and I think the attendance will grow..
ohh and to MOT people that have F bodies that went the year before...stay away..your snotty remarks are not needed..
