Are you referring to RAD Auto Machine in Ludlow....they did the machine work and parts ordering for my stroker. Spending a few thousand bucks is always a good way to get the inside scoop! I know he is planning to have it by June/July. That will be very handy as he is about 15 minutes from my house!

>Yes ... that is the shop .
I hope they are a good shop since they are now doing my new engine once I get a full refund from Nick Norris (Nu-Tek Motorsports) since the short block they built for me only got delivered loose in a crate .
I'm not saying it's their fault , but after paying in full ($4800.00 +) and not receiving the "goods" for almost a year ... makes you want to go with someone else .
I will probably post my sob story later in the Lounge after I get my refund .
But I bet I'm the one who's had a problem with Nu-Tek Motorsports (I still believe they have qualitiy merchandise , but a real lack of customer service) .

I don't understand what the problem is for not using this engine that got bounced around a bit in a crate.

What exactly broke? the oil pan got dented a bit i bet.
nothing internally in the engine would be damaged.
Why not have an engine shop open it up and check the clearances check the crank and send the bill to Nu-tek instead of refunding the entire engine AND wait another year for a motor.
The block is cast iron, it takes ALOT, I MEAN ALOT to break it.

>Are you serious ?
I hope your kidding ... right
first - it was a short block (no oil pan) , second - I would'nt trust an engine that got bounced around especially one that will get supercharged , third - I didn't think it was going to take so long with Nu-Tek or I would have brought it to a local machine shop if they (Nu-tek authorized it) ... and last - I cancelled it because the engine has been paid in full since October November , but my car still has no 396 in it . I would send numerous e-mails (example 4 last time) and never get a reply ... all I wanted was to be kept in the "loop" for any delays or problems concerning my investment .

Don at RAD had all my machine work done and rotating assembly in and balanced in about two weeks or so. Time really wasn't an issue. Everything was ready for me to assemble in a flash.

>Great I'm glad there is someone out there that takes their job seriously .
I was there last tuesday talking to them .I will definately go with them since they are a local shop and all I've heard is good things about them ... but all I've heard were good things about Nu-tek too .
I can't wait to get my refund from Nick so I can order the Callies "Dragon Slayer" kit from FlatLander Racing .

I thought it was a long block.
I would have taken to a shop to have it dissassembled and checked if there was any damage then it would be Nutek's responsibility to pay for it to be fixed or refunded at that time.

Where is the block now? Did Nu-tek refund the money?
Let me know I'll buy the short block.

>It's back at Nu-tek and you can have it ... I am waiting for the refund so I can have someone who won't "D!ck me around" build it .
If I would have sent it to a local shop it would have come out of pocket (mine) since it was a shippers error it was the responsibility of the shipping company's insurance to pay to have it returned to Nu-tek .
Not to include shipping or core the short block was $4374.45 .
I don't think I have a problem with their workmanship , but mainly their customer service , since they would not return your emails and they seldom answer their phone .
I feel like Marc with the Quest Racing "problem" ... many had good experiance with and a few had problems .You would think that I would have been kept up to date with the "situation" of the product that has been paid for in whole , or atleast answer e-mails .

>They are located on Ravenwood Dr. Not to far from route 20 (Boston Rd) Wilbraham .
If your heading towards Springfield (rt 20) you take the turn off into Ludlow before the railroad bridge .
are you lost yet .

well I had my LS6 come directly from GM and a friggin main cap bolt was snapped right off, didnt concern rob or dean and my block has been honed, balanced and all forged internals and has zero problems so far. Just have them check it why send it back. Make them pay for anythings thats found? And a shortblock that cost 4800? You got punked. I have a Ls6 shortblock that cost less than that?

>You are probably the biggest dork on this site
As for sending it to a shop locally ... well it's up to the engine builder (Nu-tek) whether he will (would have) paid for a local inspection of the short block or not ! Since it was the shipping companies fault the only peron(s) that had to pay was the shipper , it was covered under their insurance . If I had known it would have taken another year (exaggeration) I would have bit the bullet and sent it to RAD here in Ludlow to inspect it .
As far as getting "PUNKED" well let's just say that this is about an average cost for a custom built short block .
I'm sure if I'm wrong then I'll hear it from the other guys too .

If all the components and machine work are top notch, then $4800 is not out of the question. More than I would spend though...

BTW, a stock LS6 shortblock had BETTER be cheaper than an all forged, precision built race shortblock!

NEDYNO built the LS6 Shortblock all forged, balanced and blue printed shortblock for less than $4800.
I think thats what he ment by you getting punked. But the LT1's are more expensive to build then the LS1.
