Hi, I have an 1995 LT1 motor with only 80K, I think it spun a rod or crank bearing. There is a deep knocking sound in the motor, I have not even driven the car, I am still just finishing the wiring and and haven't finished doing the programming with TunerCAT. Have only run it a few times since it was pulled out of a totaled firebird last fall.
Anybody nearby that can come over and listen and confirm my suspicions or diagnose the noise?
If true can anybody recommend a re-builder or have another LT1 for sale cheap? I never planned on this happening!
Super bummed out, so close to finishing and never got a chance to drive it!!!!

I'm sorry to hear that. Sounds like it could be a rod knock. Back in the day when I had one it started out as a tapping but quickly progressed to sounding like someone banging on the engine with a hammer. Once it gets to that point, shut the motor down. You don't want the rod to break which could do a lot more damage to your engine. As it is, if you could pull the motor and probably salvage the crank and rod.

I'm not sure why this happened I never got a chance to drive it yet!
Probably has less than 10 minutes total run time since the swap.

I did but no help.
I am figuring the motor is toast, the knock is there and now it is missing badly, I probably have a blown head gasket as well.
I picked up another LT1 from a 1995 Caddy, it is an Iron head but I am going to swap it out so I can at least enjoy driving the car sometime this summer. I will rebuild the other LT1 over the winter.
Pulling this motor and swapping it out is getting tough on my 55 year old body.
I thought I was done and just had some TunerCAT issues to program out and then get a good tune from somebody local.
Well here goes, another swap!

Well, it was too hot to do anything this last weekend, waiting for it to cool down a little.
