Largest Cam to pass Emissions.

What is the largest cam you think I could use and still pass MA Emissions.
I know its all in the tune but I would hate to have to rebuild my LT1 and just have to remove cam because its too big and I sure would hate to stuff a small one in there where I could have gone bigger.

Any ideas ?

I'm running a 224/230 Comp Cam w/ 1.6 roller rockers. Haven't finished installing the motor into the car so I can't say if it passes, but they have those cans of emission passer stuff. If that doesn't work...use the good old fashion American way of getting a sticker....BRIBE HIM!

I failed emissions with my stock tune and a 218/230-114 (and the mods in my sig). I ended up retarding my timing and then I passed at 90% of the HC limit. After that I found that adding alcohol will also help. So my cam, the LT4-HOT, maybe some 224/230, but I wouldn't go any bigger.

The stock cats are supposedly better than aftermarket, having more catalyst material inside. So if you were running them, maybe you could get away with more. However, most people have aftermarket cats with a heads/cam swap.

Of course if you're still running stock heads you shouldn't get too big a cam anyway.
