GM High Tech Shootout?

Who is going to Englishtown for this race on Saturday?

I will be going down on Friday and hopefully will get there to make a few runs Friday night too.

If there's an official GMHTP Shootout this weekend, it's news to me! The magazine will not be there, but there could be some type of Camaro/Firebird race. No GMHTP race though...

"6th annual EFI race series"..... Sorry Johnny. "Another great GM event" The wording is such that I just thought it was your event. The graphics are similiar... The poster on my refrigerator is from early in the season and lists all three events....

Yeah, I remember that. I got the same mailer and you can just imagine how that raised my blood pressure! I had to call them and get them to print a retraction.

I made a stand for you guys. Basically, after 5 years of doing GMHTP events at E-town as half-day deals, I put my foot down and told them if guys were going to come from thousands of miles away, they needed to be treated better. It wasn't just me either. Guys were complaining of the motorcycles, imports, junior dragsters and the other riff-raff the track was letting in for their Saturday afternoon program. Nobody was getting enough passes down the track.

I told them, "one event only. If you give us the entire day for just our guys, then we'll make a bigger deal out of it in the magazine."

That's why I've turned my editorial attention to the Year One Bristol Bash. That track and the Year One crew treats each GMHTP racer as if their livlihood depends on it. And waddaya know? It does!

How about approaching new England Dragway ( http://www.newenglanddragway.com ). It is of national event caliber and the Boston/RI/Conn crowd races there so there are plenty of people....

If you like I could grease the track manager and see what his attitude is. Anyway, email me if you like the idea. Perhaps having a couple of events in different geographic areas would be a good way to raise subscriptions. A lot of the NE guys think that etown is a bit far for a day trip......

Ted,
Excellent idea

We have a good crowd here in the New England Section and all of our "Big Guns" will be ready for battle by then .

Johnny,
Hello, if you are interested, I'm sure I could arrange a dyno day at New Englands premier dyno and tuning facilty (New England Dyno and Tuning) www.nedyno.com so there could be a GMHTP event at NED and then a New England section dyno day at New England Dyno and Tuning the next day.

Johnny-
A "New England" shootout at NED would be a great idea this upcoming spring...gives us a few months to tweak our rides and get ready! I really hope you consider it. I'm sure we could get enough guys there to make it worth your time.

New York is "almost" New England . And I have lived in Taxachusetts and New Hampshire in the past.....

I have actually never been to NE Dragway but would like to make it up there. Where is it exactly? Maybe I could combine the trip with a visit to family (wife is from western MA).

NED is in Epping, NH. South-eastern NH, not too far from Portsmouth or the coast.

I would totally be up for an event as being discussed here!

I hear ya about the motorcycles and jr. Dragsters. On Camaro day I was there for 6 hours and my friend got one run in . He just parked it afterward and said screw it. Who really cares about motorcycles on Camaro day?
