emissions and relocated CATS
emissions and relocated CATS
Anyone have problems getting an inspection sticker with relocated CATS? I'm not talking about actual emissions levels, but the visual part of the inspection. Do they look to make sure the cats are in the factory locations?

Also, if you have over 50K miles, you shouldn't have a problem.

The cat. converter has to remain in the stock location to stay emissions legal (visual) . That's the reason that long tubes (headers) are not C.A.R.B. compliant , and we (Massachusetts) go by basiscally the same standards (we suck !) .
I'm not so worried about the actual emissions coming out the tailpipe, since it's a 96 and they won't be doing the sniffer test next year. What I'm worried about is the Turbo Tech kit I'm putting on. It means one cat is going bye bye(unless I Y the exhaust from the turbo into two cats, and then back again into one.) I may end up doing this, just so I can say all the emissions equip is there including the after cat O2s.
cool, thats chill that your friend owns an inspection station. if i ever need help i'll deffinately let you know.
take it easy guys. o yeah, if anyone has any used headers, cat-backs, or CAIs let me know....

jake

I have some used MAC 1-5/8 shorties and dual cat Y for sale. I'm looking for $160. They are painted, not coated. You could gut the cats. Let me know.
thanks for the reply. i was kinda lookin for long tubes though. i know i would want them ceramic coated though. and my car only has 1 cat. i don't think that stuff would even work. oh well, thanks man. if you have more details let me know. how much would you want 4 them?
