Does anyone know a good shop that will install an opti in Worcestor?

I was on my way to school and I stopped by for gas and noticed some smoke comming out from the hood. I popped the hood and see coolant leaking from my thermostat. I figured my t-stat crapped out because it was stuck open and my car was running ultra low on the highway (around 140). Not problem to fix I thought. With my luck some of the coolant got into the opti and now the car doesn't start.

I got towed to Diamond Chevrolet in Worcestor. The dealer told me it would cost $1100 to repair. He wants to charge me 700 for a new opti. I told him not to touch anything until I get the parts myself. I bought a cap rotor kit. Now I'm just wondering if there is any place nearby that can install an opti or has some experience working with f-bodies. I just don't want to get ripped by the dealer. He quoted me 259 for the install which doesn't sound that bad. I'm a broke college student and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

WOW! $700? What a friggin rip off. I only paid $198 shipped to my door for a brand new OEM opti from Dal. Hell, list is only $486 or so. Where on earth did they get $700 from? Diamond has ripped off so many people, I can't believe anyone would ever buy from them after learning about their reputation.

I don't even know them and I don't wanna buy from them. I bought the cap and rotor kit from Jason Cromer for 190 shipped. I think the cap and rotor should work right? Are there anymore places in case NEDYNO can't work on my car?

It isn't too bad of a job on your own. I have the Chilton's manual on it if you'd like. I have never done one myself, but have been to a few intalls and watched and it didn't take all that long or look all that hard. On another note, why didn't you get a new opti? Is all they sell the cap and rotor kit now? I looked online for a new opti and GMpartsdirect.com and they didn't have opti's either, just cap and rotor kits. I was under the impression this was different then a new opti. Is it?

BTW, can't go wrong with Jason Cromer!

If you can get the car to Ware, I could do it in 2 hours or so.

I looked at gmpartsdirect and they had opti's going for 320 plus shipping which I heard they charge a lot for. The cap and rotor kit is basically what makes the opti I think. With a new opti you get the whole unit with new seals and everything else. The cap and rotor kit seemed a lot cheaper but you have to take the opti apart to install the kit. I had this done last march. I'm just a broke college student with little time on my hands so I have to get this done. The car has been sitting at the dealership since Tuesday.

Josh - How far is Ware from Worcestor? If it's not far I definetely wouldn't mind bringing it over. Thanks for the help.

I think you mean $230! I priced one from them before deciding to go with Dal.

Ware is about 35 minutes away. Route 9 goes from Worcester right into Ware so it wouldn't be too bad. Save you a couple of bucks on the install and I'd do it in an afternoon or Saturday morning.

GMpartsdirect is a HUGE ripoff.

Look at you subtotal and you're psyched. Look at your total and you're pissed. They charge waaaaaay too much shipping, and they openly admit it on their website that's how they make their money.

I think Jason is like $300 shipped.

As far as the install, there's this little shop in Worchester off of 146 that some people here know of
