zex kit

hey all

i wanna run a zex kit on my stock lt1 motor has full exhuast, intake, adjustable fuel regulator. would a 125 dry shot be fine on my car? i mean im sure it can handle it but can the car take the dry shot? or should i lean to a wet shot? if so why is a dry shot bad?

I prefer the wet because you know you are getting your fuel and its really easy to tap into your shrader valve to get it. I guess i havent really looked much up on a dry system.

Re: zex kit

To do dry you really need a decent way to add fuel... which sometimes leads to bigger injectors/FPR. Ide say go wet... Much safer...

Re: zex kit

Firstly there is no difference to your combustion chamber Dry shot VS Wet shot. Dry shot just means extra fuel is supplied by your injectors and Wet shot supplies fuel with a separate line / nozzle and is sprayed into your intake track beside the nitrous nozzle. There have been huge debates about the pros and cons of wet and dry systems by experienced folks (do a search and I am sure you will find lots). As a standalone kit from Zex I think the Wet kit is safer. But having said that I choose a Dry kit (main reason was I really don't like the idea of having fuel and N2O in the intake re explosive mix if backfire occurs). From the investigation that I did the dangers of a Zex dry kit is that the vacuum hose from the ZEX unit to your Fuel pressure regulator can come off causing you to go Lean (and boom!). I was also sceptical of there whole methodology for getting extra fuel (i.e. there unit measures nitrous flow/pressure then changes the vacuum to the FPR by "some" amount so the fuel Pressure is increased by "some" amount so that hopefully there is now enough fuel coming out the injectors. This is nowhere near as precise as a wet kit is (which has a fixed FP and a specific Fuel jet). To get around this problem means buying more safety crap to ensure you have proper fuel pressure when the N20 is flowing. This complicates an otherwise "easy" zex install and adds cost (to be real safe you would have to dyno and measure AFR readings....).

Please take this advice with the following grains of salt. This is info I got from doing research in preparation for my first use of N20 ever and I have no practical/hands on knowledge using N20. My best advice would be to do some research so you can feel comfortable in whatever decisions you make and understand the risks you are taking. Hope that helps.
