What is a good nitrous set up for a LT1??

My mods are in my sig. I was wanting a wet kit and a shot anywhere for 75-125 that should be safe right?? Also I have an automatic and was wondering what is the best way to set it up. Like safety switches and what not. Lastly when do you activate the n20?? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well of course I am biased but I would say a NX system. The Stage 1 20920 system is very commonly used on LT1's and has a great reputation for being safe and dependable. A good safety device is a window switch. It keeps you from spraying at too low of RPMs and shuts the nitrous off before you hit the rev limiter which is very important. As far as when to activate it--well that depends on what you are looking for and how brave you are. From a performance standpoint the sooner the better. If you install slicks and spray it off the line you will see a huge performance increase, but of course that puts more of a strain on your drivetrain. If you wait until you get rolling that lessens the strain on your drivetrain. Just to give you and idea of what spraying off the line can do for a 1/4 E.T.--my buddy has an 86 Mustang GT with the basic bolt ons and it runs 13.80's on the motor with a 1.85 60' time. On a 175 shot off the line it runs 11.40's with a 1.48 60' and carries the left front wheel about 6 inches in the air! This was his first experience with nitrous and I thought we were going to have to have his smile surgically removed fro his face. If you would like some prices or more info on NX nitrous systems feel free to email me at sales@speedtechnologies.net or call me at 417-581-1175. Thanks

Dang, I knew there were good benefits from using nitrous, just didn't know they were that good.

Nitrous is hard to beat when it comes to bang for your buck. I know RacnLT1 here on the board has gone 11.02 on a stock LT1 lonblock!

That depends on the condition of the engine and other components. Most LT1s can handle up to 150 safely. Others have pushed the envelope to 175-200. You can probably get away with more using a progressive which will help smooth the blow to the bottom end.

NX sells what appears to be a clean Maximizer progressive. Talk to Steve above, great prices and service. I've got my Christmas list just about filled out

I used the Nitrous works wet plate system for several years and had no trouble out of it, the biggest pills I used were the 125s. System was very easy to install and with a few additions was very trouble free, I would add a hobbs fuel switch, bottle warmer ,window switch, and purge solonoid to help out.

I agree with what Steve said. I started with a basic NX kit and got extra components to set it up as a dual nozzle system. In that configuration (with the original solenoids) I ran up to 230hp.

As Steve said, you need a window switch! I also regard a bottle heater and a nitrous pressure gauge as very important. If not you will need to run a fuel jet a couple of sizes larger to avoid possible leaning out when the nitrous pressure is high. That's what the standard jet tables have and running excessively rich give up "free" horsepower.

Sounds about right..

My Camaro ran 13.6x all motor, and with 175 shot ran 11.3x.... It's amazing what a little nitrous can do.....

Especially true in a heavy car like a 4th gen. There is much more increment in ET reduction/hp for N2O compared to other mods. A pig of a car really needs theat extra low end torque to launch hard.

I run a nitrous works 175 shot wet kit and have had no problems. I activate mine with a wide open switch. Some times i will heat the bottle up to about 1200 psi and the fun really begins
