Question Useful life of N20 solenoids?

Well i havent used my N20 in about hmm almost 2 years(ball park). I was wondering what I used check on my N20 system to see if it s running correctly. Also how long do the solenoids last? The car has a N20 works wet system w/ remote opener, purge, remote bottle opener. Any info would be great.

This is something that gets over looked until a motor melts down. Its recommended that a solenoid get rebuilt every year for reliable use. Now some people get by for years but for the cost of $25.00 or so for a solenoid rebuild kit is very cheap insurance to insure reliability. One thing that is common with a solenoid that is mounted on or near the engine/intake manifold that will radiate some means of heat will weaken a solenoid coil thus not allow the solenoid to either work or not fully open. This to also can be cheaply replaced. And don't worry rebuilding a solenoid is cheap and easy. Just purchase the special tool that will allow you to take the solenoid apart. This tool also is cheap and can be purchased from the NOS cataloge.

Good Luck

I do have my solenoids mounted near the engine and they do soak up heat. Ive heard of people rebuilding them even sooner than that but they are very strong. ! year sounds about right to me to. I hardly ever squezz so id hope they last a little longer !!

Progressives will affect the life of the solenoid seal. Also, the brand of seal will affect the durability. NX rebuild kits are $65 each for N2O and Fuel.

It is cheap insurance. get them and rebuild them. I had my go when I was at a traffic light. That was one scaryyyy moment. Now during the racing season or if I use often I rebuild mine every 3 months. And when I do take them out They have a nice little dimple in the plunger and that is not good. I think I would say it safer them to be sorry in the long run.

You may want to start a poll to see which tend to last longer. But the variables will be the amount of use and progressives. I've heard on this board that NX seems to make the best seals.
