Post under carb spray bar Question

I did a search and found nothing on this.

My 383 has a single plane intake with a 2 inch raised plenum built in (no spacer). I plan on installing a single stage nitrous kit. I don't really want to install the 1/2" plate under the carb for 2 reasons....1-extra plenum area might hurt perfomance 2-might cause clearance issues with the air cleaner hitting the hood.

So I had an idea to install the spray bar in the raised part of the intake. I am very creative and quite handy with tools so drilling 2 holes and tapping them in the aluminium intake would not be too hard for me.

Has anyone done this or know of anyone that has done this?
Also would I have to drill an extra hole for the "safety blow holes" that are normally in the plates??

Do the nitrous companies sell just a spray bar for something like this?

thanks....
Heavy

I wouldnt suggest doing it yourself, just for warranty reasons. If you get the bars positioned wrong, it will cause alot of problems. It is very common to do it this way in the manifold you have. It allows for much better distribution. I believe NX will do it at the factory for little additional charge, at least they used to.

Nitrous Express, Wilson Manifolds, and Jeff Prock (Applied Racing Tech) all come directly to mind for this kind of work.

What about having the manifold milled down and redrilled so that the spacer doesn't interfere with the hood?

I was thinking about that but it would cost too much to have all that metal cut off (1/2").

I think the spray bar being plumbed into the manifold would look really trick !
