Timing question........
Ok, I hope I don't open up a can of worms with this, but I have a question about nitrous and timing. I have done a lot of reading on this (more than I will probably ever use) and I can't seem to find out Why timing is pulled to begin with. All I can ever find is that you "should" do it, or the rule of thumb for it.
For example : If you have 2 engines that both have 500 hp (to the flywheel for sake of arguement) one of them does it naturally aspirated and one has 300 hp NA with the equivalent of 200 hp worth of nitrous; why would you pull timing on the one with nitrous and not the one that is naturally aspirated ???
Does this make sense ?
Serious answers please, I have seen enough of "because that is the way you should do it".
Thanks

Nitrous has a higher concentration of oxygen. This increases rate at which the motor burns the fuel. In an ideal condition you want the highest cylinder pressure after top dead center. Not before which would cause detonation. So since the fuel burns quicker you ignite it later.
