Thinking about Nitrous
Thinking about Nitrous
I'm new to the whole nitrous scene and just started reading up on it. Right now I have a 95 Z28 with full bolt on's and 60K on the clock. I'm only wanting to run a 50 or 75 shot. Would this be a safe spray range without risking any damage? I really just want to know what kind of damage spraying my engine may cause or if a 50-75 won't really do anything. Also can anyone point me in the direction of a nitrous kit with everything i want. Mainly I just want to know if this will cause any damage to my engine and want a safe setup.
Thanks

Re: Thinking about Nitrous
well im kinda new to nitrous also, but your best bet is to read and do as much research as possible. If you go to google and type in "new to nitrous", things will pop up that will really help you. As for running a 50-75 shot, you will be fine. From what ive read, our motors are good for up to a 150 shot. Just make sure you go with all of the safety equipment when you buy a kit, as this will protect your motor more so against anything terrible. As long as the motor doesnt lean out, you should be fine to run spray. Also, ask injuneer, he probably has the answer to most of the questions you may have.
Good luck man.

Anything 100 or lower you really wont feel a big difference, you will notice that it pulls harder up top but as far as Night/Day difference, you won't notice that until you get up to 150. I sprayed a 100 for a few months and then went up to a 150 once I got a bigger fuel pump. If you are going to spray get the kit, a window switch, bottle heater, purge, FPSS, and some NGK TR6's. A fuel pump is a must with anything above 150.

Why don't you really notice a 75 shot? I know when I put headers on I felt a diffrence. It wasent a huge diffrence of course but defintly the most noticable out of all my bolt on's. I just figured it'd be the same as like a head/cam kit. Everyone says they really notice a diffrence when they get a head/cam kit so why wouldn't you notice a 75 shot? I don't have to notice a diffrence just as long as it's making a diffrence. If i was to run a 75 shot what kind of 1/8th mile time would I be looking at. Right now I run 8.7 -8.8's. I don't really want to run a bigger shot more then a 75 shot. I was thinking about a head/cam kit but that would cost quite a bit more then just getting a 75 shot and i figured they'd show about the same gains?
Also for a 75 shot should I get a dry or wet system?

Re: Thinking about Nitrous
Yes, there will be a difference, but as far as setting you back in your seat the 150 is were its at. I dont know what you would run with the 75 shot in the 1/8, I usually just go for the full 1/4. LOL. When I was running a 100 shot I only ran a 13.8 in the 1/4 because my pump was going out and the kit kept on shutting on and off. The only thing I have to compare to my car is that with the 150 shot I beat a friend of mine who was running 13.0 at the track. I'm hoping that when I make it back to the track I will be in the high 12's.
Why wouldn't you want to go with anything bigger than a 75 shot??? I said that when I first put it on my car and after a few months I put in the 150 shot jets.
I myself like wet kits but you will hear different things from different people. I just like it wet!!!!!
