Teflon tape
Bought a barely used NX kit and was going through the instructions and inventory and it gave multiple warnings on using teflon tape only use the paste. The previous owner used the tape it looks like. Is that going to be a big problem?

Tiny silvers of tape can also get in the lines and cause problems with the solinoinds.
Bob,you need to get a line cap so when you remove the bottle to refill (weekly for you I'm sure) you can plug the line end, keeps the carpet fuzz out. NOS claims #1 reason for noid failure is carpet fiber. If your worried about the noids we can take them apart and clean them.

I still use tape *Shrug Shoulders* works fine, I suppose if you're careful when applying it, though I suppose it does "Decompose" abit over time and heat...
The Line Plug is definetly a good idea, that I see alot of people don't do. I'm fanatical about having a quality filter in the system. Crap in the line is the biggest and most common problem for the solenoid(s).

Is the filter that comes with the kit a quality filter?

Uhm, not really.
Its better then some, but even though they come apart I don't know how many I've seen leak after being put back together (Customer Cars), or worse yet, on the initial install when brand new.
They actually make another unit that I've had real good luck with. Somewhat larger and includes a 7" piece of braided hose for install.
Pet Peeve: Those darned NOS Filtered Fittings.
them things plug by just looking at em!.
