Stock 1995 Z & Nitrous

I would like to run NOS on my 1995 Z. What are the typical ET's for a stock Z on Nitrous, say I run a 100hp set up? Also, where can I buy a nice system for a good price?

Thanks,

Its hard to give and exact performance gain in E.T. becasue there are a lot of factors that will effect your ET. I can give you an example that may help. A number of years ago I had a 89 Formula 350 that ran 14.50's with the only mods being a Gale Banks catback and a K&N. I put a 150 shot on it and along with some sticky tires(McCrearys) and dropped my ET down to mid 12's with the best being 12.48 but many runs in the 12.50-12.60's. I got 2 full seconds with a 150 shot. I am sure some of the other guys running nitrous on LT1's will step in here and give you some examples of what thier cars did on the bottle. As far as where to buy it--I'm pretty biased about that but I would probably pick me! If you would like a price on a new NX system let me know and I will make you a great deal. Thanks

Thank you, I have a lot of homework to do since I'm just starting to think along the NOS line. I will definitely contact you for a quote when I’m ready to buy.

Will 150 shot damage my stock LT1? I hear a lot of conflicting positive and negative info about NOS, do the rewards in overall performance outweigh the long term effects / damage that I’m told will occur from continues use?

Thanks again,

Yes, starting with calling it N2O, "NOS" is a brand name... Drives me nuts when people ask if I'm running NOS..."HELL NO, I'm running NX!!!"

It's like anything else you do for max performance...there is a risk, but with the right setup and all the proper engine protection stuff in place, and if you respect the rules and follow the instructions, it should work well and last a long time. I know a guy (I think he's on this board as well) that slapped a $400 basic NX kit (no accessories) on a 94Z and went from 13.9's to 11.8's! Can't remember if the car had 2.73 (I think) or 3.42 gears though...still, that was damn quick for $400...most people with basic mods and a 150 shot see low 12's pretty easily.

I really don't think you will notice any long term effects or damage as long as you have your system set up properly. WIth that being said if you go to the track and make 20 passes every weekend you will shorten the life of a motor with or without nitrous. The Formula I mentioned above had nitrous put on it when it was new and had hundreds of bottles ran thru for over 90K miles. It often had two bottles a weekend ran thru it! There are others on the board that had similar results with thier LT1 cars. I know RacinLt1 has run a 11.02 on the sotck long block and I think he said he had been spraying a 150 shot for over 2 years. The most important thing about nitrous is to never let it get lean. If you keep the air/fuel mixture in line you wont have any problems and that pretty easy to do. Thanks

I've been reading that setup is the key. I'm in Miami Fl, any idea how could do the installation for me should I buy the system from you?

you can install it yourself. it's pretty basic, but...since i'm not good with electrical stuff, i let my friend did it, and he charged me $50, plus a good McD meal

nitrous is a lot of fun

just remember,
NOS = brand
N2O, n2o or nitrous = ,

Got it now, Lol. NOS = brand, N2O, n2o or nitrous Sounds like a lot of fun, can't imagin how it feels to add an additional 150hp at the push of a button or drop of the hammer to what is alerady an adrenilin pumping experiance driving an LT1. Must be one hell of a rush!

i'm just pushing 75 shot right now. i use nx. that means, 75 hp to your wheels. the 1st time i tried it, i could not help my self but to look like .

my friend was amazed just by how much power can a 75 shot make your can runs a lot faster.

so 150 to your wheel = all week long

nitrous =

I agree with TMDZ28 that you can install it yourself. It only requires normal hand tools and the NX systems come with good directions. Thanks

your best bet would be to go with nx kit. since you have LT1, it's safer to go wet setup, or so i've heard. NX has the best wet kit in the market right now. SpeedtechInc sells them for a good price i bet. also nx rated their power to the rear wheel, while other companies rated their power to the flywheel. it's all up to you though, just dont forget to get !!window switch!! very important. other than that, spray away dude

Do you need to invest in a set of headers before using N2o or can you slap it on to a stock LT1?

You can put it right on a sotck LT1. Headers will help your ET, but definately not required to use nitrous. Normally the more stock a car is, the bigger the performance increase is on nitrous. My Formula that I mentioned above had stock exhaust manifolds. Thanks
