I'm thinking of spraying my mustang, but have heard that windsors aren't very good nitrous motors is this true? By the way if I do spray should I go the cheap route and just buy the kit or the kit and safety devices?

 

im not sure where you heard that from,but many windsors get sprayed,look at NMRA .

i would suggest get the basic safety stuff and spray away.

 

I heard that from my father he builds race engines for a living. I think the only reason he told me that is he is concerned about the strength of the 1984 block(not as strong as the pre-78 blocks)
or he just doesn't want his 16 year old son getting gas happy

 

There is truth to that statement. During the late 70s early 80s, manufacturers lightened blocks to save weight by reducing the amount of metal in the cast. On my 383 for my 69 Camaro, we took the engine numbers for blocks made before 1980... we found 8. It took a long time but it is still running hard today. However, you're block should handle another 150-175 without any problems.
