Spray with 12:1 CR, is it possible?

Hey guys. With an LT1 motor running a 242/248 solid roller cam and 12:1 CR ported heads, is it possibe to run a small amount of nitros? Or, is it too much compression for spray. Thanks.

As long as the fuel system can handle it.......spray it. What pistons do you have?

Nitrous isnt compression dependant like boost is......Musi runs 14:1 on some of his Nitrous engines.
I plan on building a 11.5-12:1 355 and will be hitting it heavy.....250 shot or so.

For now, the bottom end will be stock, but I might go the same route as you. A 355 that can spin, with 6" rods and forged pistons.

A buddy of mine has an 11.8:1 396 and he's sprayed 150-200 on pump gas. I think we're pulling 8 degrees on the 150 shot though!

Igor: if I understand right, you are using stock pistons? If so, be very careful. In any case, you will need race gas with this combo as well as the usual colder lugs and reatrded timing.

Good luck.

Forged pistons or not, I would be pulling some timing. Cold plugs too....

I wouldnt even spray at stock bottom end head/cam car....you are just asking to ruin a head if a piston destroys. I have a stock head here that experienced a piston destruction.....

No, I don't think I am going to use spray while my pistons are still stock. It "might" happen this winter if I have more money, but if I do, I am going to a new rotation assembly. Either a 355 or a 383 with 6" rods and forged pistons. We will see.
