Solenoid Stuck Open?

So i just purchased a NOS 05131 wet kit. Everything is installed correctly and working as it should, but after testing the system to make sure it worked before putting the jets & the nozzel in. I can hear a small hissing coming from the N20 line. is this normal or is it suppose to be completely off when the system is off? It is a power shot solenoid if that helps any. Thanks in advance

Re: Solenoid Stuck Open?

You probably have a small leak somewhere? can you hear exactly where it's coming from? the same thing hapenned to me it was a loose n2o fitting.

Re: Solenoid Stuck Open?

The point where its leaking should be extremely cold. In humid weather, it will ice up.

Re: Solenoid Stuck Open?

Its not leaking from any of the fittings. in other words I can hear it hissing from the end of the line that exits the nitrous solenoid that screws into the nozzel that goes into the air intake tube.

In reference to it icing up the whole nitrous solenoid Iced up and the exit line iced up as well. I checked for leaks and tightend everything back down and used soapy water and no bubbles

What happens if you remove the line from the n2o solenoid to the nozzle, and then open your bottle with everything off?

If i removed the line from the nitrous solenoid than it would be leaking from the solenoid where you screw in the out line.

Re: Solenoid Stuck Open?

if that's the case then yes I agree with you your solenoid is stuck open somehow... You should take it apart and see if something is damaged or preventing it from closing completely.

Re: Solenoid Stuck Open?

YES! Your nitrous solenoid is leaking into the outlet line. That's why it iced up. Been there, done that. No nitrous should be present "where you screw in the out line" as you call it, unless the solenoid is activated.

The solenoids can rebuilt with a new elastomeric seat. I keep a couple of those kits in my tool box.

That's one reason you don't want to leave your bottle valve open all the time. The constant, long-term pressure can deform and damage the seat. Remember, you're dealing with at least 900psi.
