Solenoid setup questions

I am planning on purchasing the NX PRO-SHK-GAS (200-300-400-500-600HP) 4 SOLENOID SYSTEM NITROUS OXIDE KIT

also adding in the dual rail upgrade.

My idea is this:

On the nitrous side, have a solenoid on the front of each rail, then a Y connecting the two. That line will run over to the fender where it will go through another solenoid for safety. then to the bottle.

On the fuel side. The rails will go directly into a Y then into one single fuel solenoid.

My reasoning here is this; if a solenoid is going to fail, even though they should fail in the closed position, if it were to fail open on the nitrous side, there would be the backup solenoid there to stop it. On the fuel side i figure its not a huge deal if it fails open and sprays fuel in when not wanted, just shut the car off and it stops.

My only concern is this, is the single fuel solenoid enough to flow the amount of fuel required?

Also how would i plumb the purge in there, just plumb it right next to the single nitrous solenoid on the fender?

the purge should come in before the rails, connected directly to the main feed line.

as for the n2o failing, the only time its really an issue is when there is pressure in the lines, is this a street or drag car?

95% street 5% track.

I am a do it right guy so I dont want to spray the contents of a bottle into the engine without fuel so I would like to run inline solenoids on the nitrous side to be safe. Only thing I really need to know is will one of those solenoids (I believe they are the iceman solenoids) handle enough fuel to feed both rails.

Oh and are the fuel and nitrous solenoids different? I might have to have them send me 3 nitrous and 1 fuel.

Any other opinions?

i would run a fuel 'noid for each rail, why risk it? other then that, seems to be a decent idea.

Thing is I am still sorta on a budget even though it might not seem like it considering the 1500$ setup im talking about, at least. But the way I saw it was if the fuel fails its not a huge deal, once the pumps off the fuels gone, and too much fuel cant ruin an engine, just plugs.

If Im just way out in left field here and that one solenoid wont handle the flow, Ill get two not a big deal, but I dont want to if i dont have to.

I figure since there usually is just one solenoid on both sides of things it shouldnt be a problem.

with the rails and only 1 'noid,it will have that much more trouble filling both rails when it hits. the rails already have a slight lean issue when the nitrous hits, due to pressure differences.
with the 1 fuel noid it will be that much harder.

2 it is!

Now whats this lean condition you speak of? Will I need a pump with more pressure? I was planning on the racetronix stock pressure pump setup with harness, but will get the added pressure setup if needed.

Any other info you can share about the rail setup, the main reason Im doing it is because I saw the pictures of Ktamez' setup and fell in love.

Is there any kind of performance advantage to the rails, or are they just cosmetic?

While I have you I have a few more questions if you dont mind, Ill ask them a little later. Thanks.

from what i understand the fuel takes a split second longer to pressurize the rail when compared to the nitrous. if you mid mounted the fuel solenoids i think it would fill better, but thats just my take on it.

Is it possible to mount them in the middle, arent the rails predrilled/tapped? Sounds like they are drilled/tapped the correct distance apart for a normal intake man. then both ends are tapped for a solenoid and it comes with a plug for the opposite end. I would think you that problem would go away with a higher pressure pump, and possibly tie it in before the regulator so you maintain the correct psi for the injectors but up the pressure for n2o.

My other questions. It says adjustable from 200-600, that doesnt mean thats all you can get right? I could put 150hp jets on there for the street right? then switch them over to the 300 or so for the track no problem correct?

Also, looking at ktamez' setup, the nozzles are drilled sortof into the side of the intake port. Am I seeing that right, or is that how it needs to be? I would think it would be better right in the center. Im sure the instructions for installation will detail this out but I was just curious.

Thanks for reading my long posts, sorry

Red face

all 3 rail setups we did we had to drill/tap the rails. kinda hard to be predrilled for every possible intake combo.
also you could pipe plug the ends and drill the rails for the fuel solenoids. no matter what pump you use, fuel wont fill as fast as 1k+psi of nitrous.
doesnt matter where the nozzle is placed,as long as it's pointed down, gotta have valve cover clearance so thats why they are off to the sides (i presume).

yes you can jet down, just gonna have to buy the jets for the smaller shot.

Makes sense that 1000psi would go faster than 50psi. Is that damgerous, or is it cool since its such a short amount of time that its running lean. I wonder if theres someway to fix that with a delay of some sort between the fuel and n2o noids.

we never had a problem, but i would personally feel more comfortable with the fuel noids in the middle. never heard of a car blowing up with the noids mounted in the normal location of the rails.

im going to bed,i'll answer anything else tomorrow lol

Sounds good, thanks a lot man, I still have a lot to learn about N2O and direct port. Any documentation you could suggest as some good reading material about nitrous?
