simple question about FPSSs

are only certain brands adjustable and some others just preset. and also, how do you actually go about adjusting it, and do you need a fuel pressure gauge to actually adjust it errr....

also this Edlebrock one seems decent and its cheaper than the rest. usualy you get what you pay for, but oppinions on this one...

In order to adjust the one that i have, you have to pull out a rubber piece then turn an adjustment screw in or out depending on which way you want it to go. Whichever one you end up getting make sure that you ask them which way you turn it to get the right setting so you dont mess things all up.

ok, do you need a gauge or is it fully adjustable off just the peice by turning it to a certain position thats marked on it.

also, does it mount off the fuel rail, before the fule solenoid or where is it located in the system and will it shut off for a failed fuel solenoid? thanks

Re: simple question about FPSSs

You'll need a gauge to properly adjust it. I have mine located in between the schraeder valve and the fuel solenoid meaning I have a line coming from the fuel solenoid that goes to one end of the FPSS and another line coming from the other end of the FPSS to the schraeder valve on the fuel rail.

Re: simple question about FPSSs

ok sweet, where can i get more info about adjusting a FPSS, and hooking the system all up. i have general knowledge but not enough to trust my own instincts with this stuff. is there a site or link that has good info that will guide me through an install with all the safety goods. thanks again

Re: simple question about FPSSs

Whatever kit you choose should come with instructions, depending on what you are running and on what car will determine what goes to what. If you do go with the mallory id suggest getting the harness made by MSD that integrates it into your stock harness without splicing wires and hardwiring it. The colors are a little different but its easy, i cant get you the colors if you need them.

Re: simple question about FPSSs

I'm not sure if all fuel pressure safety switches are created equal or not. I have the one from NX and its operation and adjustment are thoroughly covered in the instruction manual. I know nothing about the Edelbrock switch but I'm sure they will provide you with documentation.
