race gas as replacement for timing retard?

hey id like to take my lt1 up to the track this weekend on the new 150 wet nitrous works shot i just bought. i dont have the money to order an msd ignition and retard box or any other retard setup really so i was wondering if i could just pump in a few gallons of 103 octane and that would compensate for the stock timing. that sound safe?

I run a NX 150-175 shot with Sunoco 104 unleaded. No timing removed. I have an MSD ignition, 255lph fuel pump, and a dyno tune though.

About 1.1 secs and 14mph. Traction is a problem.

150 shot on my car knocked off 1.6 seconds, and there is more in it still...

I sprayed from 3000-6000 in each gear. It bounced off the rev limiter between shifts (I'm assuming due to trans/converter slip) and I had 9 degrees of knock retard at the lauinch which tapered down to 2 through the rest of the run...

13.3 n/a, 11.7 spraying...

To play it safe, timing retard is nice...I can't tell you honestly if more octane will be exactly what ya need. I've run all 94 octane for at least 200lbs of nitrous so far with stock timing at the 150 level. The first 60lbs were with 110 leaded VP...I figured I needed it...well it didn't gain me anything when I switched to 100% 94 octane..

My 150 Nitrous express wet shot DROPPED 2.45 seconds of my 1/4 mile time and added 20-22 MPH depending on the day and weather.

The 100 shot alone added 18 MPH and dropped 2.3 seconds.

The added 50hp shot netted me .25 slower 60 foot times since the torque obliterated my nitto drags from a standstill.

Wierd math but hey...I love nitrous anyways And my new ET streets and converter should take care of the 60 foot problem. Goodluck man
