Is purging a necessity?
Is purging a necessity?
Getting ready to hook up the wet kit and someone asked about where I was purging to. I hadn't planned on it.....do you have to have a purge? I know it gets the air out of the line but other than running rich for a second is there any other negitive affects from not purging?
Re: Is purging a necessity?
when I ran my car without a purge it would just stumble for a split sec when you first hit it. rich I guess. Some people say you can activate your system and just slap the pedal to the floor real fast a couple times and be good, but that sounded like a bad idea to me. and besides nothing gets everyones attention better than comin up to the line and purgin a white cloud of smoke outa your car. Thats the main reason I got mine. looks SWEET

25th hit it right on the nose!
i would like to add that when I had nitrous on my car, I always purged it to bring the nitrous up to the solenoids, so you wouldn't have to wait on it!

Re: Is purging a necessity?
It's simple. Ideally you want a little more bottle pressure than you need. Lets say you want to spray with 900 psi bottle pressure. If you set the bottle exactly at 900, by the time you purged, some pressure would have been lost in the line and out through the purge and you would have to reheat the bottle. You'll never have the exact amount of bottle pressure anyways just from a heater, so purging is the only way to fine tune it. Set it a little higher than you want, and purge the pressure down until you have reached the desired psi.
