Presssure Controlled Bottle Heaters

Are the bottle heaters that are controlled by pressure instead of temperature that much better? To me they seem like they would be worth the extra money.

That looks like a very nice and reliable kit.
I'll probably get that one when the time comes.

Its a must have for me. I have the Nitrous Express brand. You just flip it on and dont have to worry about checking the guage. No over heating or underheating. Gives you more time to look for a kill!!

Re: Presssure Controlled Bottle Heaters

I just bought my heater and pressure reg from Cold Fusion Nitrous.

Less than $100 for both !!! No wiring or connectors or instructions but that's ok cause I am a wiring wiz.

From what I see, the $150 is not automatic based on pressure. It looks like a $79.00 retro fit on top of the heater for that.

$150 is the complete kit with everything you need! The $79 upgrade is if you just have the heater blanket and need the pressure switch, wiring and everything else for a complete install.

I'll have to try and look over that page again. I just didn't see anything for $150 compleye that adjusted according to pressure.

Re: Presssure Controlled Bottle Heaters

Only drawback with pressure controlled - you need to have the bottle valve opened when heating the bottle. With temp or manual (eyeball/gauge) controlled, you can keep the bottle closed until you're ready to use it.

But, I'm sure someone could wire up a switch to bypass the pressure transducer, if wanted.

I was told by one of the faster guys on here a while ago that Nitrous Express makes (or made at one time) as pressure "gauge" that installs inline w/ the blowdown tube fittings (before the fitting), allowing the heater to know the bottle pressure w/ the bottle closed. I've yet to see such a device, and would love to know the part number if it does exisist.

I'm also interested if anyone has played with the NX Fire and Ice pressure controller. It's freaking expensive, but the ability to both heat and cool the bottle is pretty sweet.

I have it. It a pimp piece, but it take awhile to heat up. Also it really takes a while to heat up or fails to heat up (error light flashes) if it is real cold outside 40 degrees or lowwer. Cools real good. Here's some pic of the set-up:
NX fire & ice bottle heater/cooler
NX fire & ice bottle heater/cooler controler

You can use a pressure controlled heater with the bottle closed as long as the transducer is mounted before the open/close valve. I bought the NOS super high flow valve just for the 2 extra ports for this very reason.

Re: Presssure Controlled Bottle Heaters

I just wired my heater to a switch and watch the gauge. I don't know if the new automatic ones are the smae but the ones I saw shut off at 950 psi. I like to spray at 1100
