Nos on a stock LT1

Hey guys just a quick question. I was told that I could put a NOS kit on my car, its basically stock except for exhaust and a ram air kit. Is that true or should I have other stuff done first? I don't want to break anything but I would love to have nitrous. Thanks.

Yes you can put nitrous on your stock engine. You just need to get the basic saftey parts and I would keep the hp in the 100 range. I would also get me an aftermarket ignition or at least a coil if you cant afford the whole ignition. You will also want to go to a heat range cooler plug. Other than that your stock motor will be fine.

you need to get

- ngk tr6 sparkplugs or similar. (as stated above, cooler plugs)
- window switch (harlan or msd)
- WOT switch (usually comes with the kit anyway)
- actication switch (comes with the kit)

when you have some extra money, get:

- msd 6al (around $100-150 used)
- walbro inline fuel pump (around $150)
- bottle heater (around $200)

make sure your opti and sparkplug wires are in good conditions, you dont want a misfire while you are spaying, and never spray below 3000RPM. you should be set.

hope that helps

Thanks guys. You mentioned making sure the wires and opti were in good shape. I know the wires are good I just got them replaced. unfourtunately the plugs were just done too, if I have to change them then it was a waste. Anyway what I was wondering is if there is a way to check the opti. I had it replaced aprox. 50k ago. I know that is kinda a long time but I haven't had any problems so I think its ok but I would rather be sure before I go any farther. thanks again.
