Nitrous Solenoid Expoled View.

Have you ever wondered why NX solenoids were the first to market with a purge port.
\With the purge valve after the orifice you have liquid nitrous waiting to right at the piston. This will give you a quicker flow time. Having the purge before the solenoid as many companies still use today will allow a small amount of space not to get nitrous to when purging.
Also the location of the filter being in the solenoid gives you the best location to catch any trash before getting to the piston.
Here are some pictures of the inside cut away of your Nitrous Express nitrous solenoid

The spring and o-ring are left off the 3rd picture. They must be installed for proper operation.

For people that want to overhaul or check their solenoids out just follow these steps. If you are not 100% sure you want to do this or can do this, just send your NX solenoids in, you only need to pay the freight and or for a coil if coil burn out has happened.

You will need a solenoid wrench. Pn15733 This tool is a must for any one serious about there nitrous and racing.
You will remove the large nut at the top of you solenoid, and remove the coil. Now you will need to put the solenoid into a vise. Using the same tool there are 2 little holes that corresponds with the wrench, remove the tower.
Care should be taken not to loose any of these components.
After the tower is removed you will see the piston, spring, and o-ring.
If any debris is found on the piston just wipe it off carefully, and then blow the solenoid out with compressed air. Blowing air backwards through your filter will blow any trash out of the inlet. reinstall your o-ring in the base, now install the spring on to the piston, slide the piston back into the tower, and very careful reinstall the tower to base. Now you can reinstall the coil and tighten the nut. (IT should be snug tight not ½ inch braker bar tight) It is EXTREMELY important that you do not have any parts get into a bind when reinstalling. If you damage any one of the listed parts the solenoid will not work properly.

I don't really see how the built in filter is an advantage. It just makes it harder to clean. I do like the other features though.

The built in filter can catch the trash that might come off a fitting when it is being installed. Also some customers change the inlet fittings and those fittings might not have a filter in them.

Re: Nitrous Solenoid Expoled View.

white knight, i am pretty much for sure gonna buy my nitrous within the next month too.....I am just waiting and trying to find the best deal I can. I would want the regular nozzle wet kit, and may be interested in a purge or bottle heater if the price is right.

How cheap have you found your kit for? It's $559 at Texas Speed. What size shot are you looking at? I'm still undecided....i'm thinking 50 off the line then 100 when i hit second gear. Yea i'm just re-doing the valvetrain right now, but by summer i will have the juice. How is the weather down there anyway? you guys warmming up any? I have no rush to get mine, since we still have snow here in MI--car won't be comming out for a couple more months.

Re: Nitrous Solenoid Expoled View.

Hey whiteKnight........weather still sucks here, probably wont get warm till mid to late march. Actually as far as a kit goes, I found a used one (only 9 months old supposedly) with the full genx 2 accesories, a custom bracket for mounting the bottle between the rear seats and custom dual purge lines that shoot out through the front headlights. I told the guy I want dibs on it and I have the money........he lives kinda close to here, so I am gonna drive down and pick it up either this weekend or next weekend. I am really excited, cause it is way cheaper at his price than brand new would be.
