That is what has been on my mind. I don't see a "bone stock" LT1 car with a 150 shot running 11.5's Unless it was gutted to the core and Hooked realy good. I think there is more to the story than is being told. (maybe in another thread?) I am not bashing on the propane at all. Just think of it this way a 150 shot is a 150 shot no matter what type of fuel you use. So if you look at it like that take a bone stock LT1 car runs Mid 13's at best. add a 150 shot and picking up say 2 sec. Hmmm makes me

I'll give some detail, he can fill in what he wants.
STOCK MOTOR.
stock rear with 373 gear.
28X9" slick on a steel rim in stock wheel wheel.
turbo 350 trans 2800 stall
homemade dry kit 150 HP, bottle and solenoid in back of car, stock injectors, stock pump
stock EX. running through a gutted cat
Stock front rims
LT-1 edit tuned by him.
motor 13.7
150 shot 11.52 @115....1.55 60'....i guessed it 2.1 sec gain on N2O
I will say he's super smart and a excellent tuner.
The key to all this is going as fast as possible with as little money as needed. This is a fun challenge to him. He also has a 68 Blown BBC Camaro on nitrous that'll be back out next year. It's fastest pass is 9.66 @ 148 on stock suspension and a 28X9" slick.
Sunday will be propane with a little more nitrous, in an attempt to run super quick. He or i will keep you posted.
BTW 6K takes the car.

This has nothing to do with propane, but whatever.
The slicks helped a bunch and are the only way to go.
Free mods including a home made airfoil.
Best I can tell the converter on the 11.52 pass flashed to nearly 4k rpm.
I did remove the pass seat, jack and spare tire.
Needless to say I've done everything I can think of with LT1 edit to get the car to go that fast. Freescan showed o2s down to .5xx, but mostly higher than that. I'll use the propane to prevent reoccurance (There now it's a propane related post).
There are a couple chasis and race trim tricks I use for a couple extra tenths, I'm not going to share with anyone.
Officially, the fastest na pass is 13.7. Which means I picked up almost 2.2 seconds on a .063 nitrous jet. The Pro Stock et formula shows about 180 hp gain. The na pass was not on slicks as i remember, so it could be faster.
The most amazing part, at least to me, is the stock cam, exhaust manifolds, and cross over pipe. I can't believe they still allow the car to pick up.
I'll be shooting for 10s with two kits on Sunday.

Propane has a 105 ocane rating. The propane set up is cheaper than a pump and fuel cell (required for a higher octane suppliment fuel). This is in place of filling the gas tank with race gas. Also, the stock pump seemed outpaced on the 11.52 run (sprayed dry); I needed a low cost alternative fuel supply. Cheap and quick is the philosophy for this car. I already have one money pit.
Exactly, which makes me wonder if it should really be called a wet kit anymore. Perhaps a new name is in order. Any suggestions?

No fuel atomization to worry about, propane boils at -44F.
No fuel puddling anywhere in the intake tract.
Even spraying enough propane to support nearly 150hp without the nitrous bottle open the car didn't sputter (full throttle).
I should try it at idle, I'm guessing the potential explosion would be a rather short duration ball of fire, rather than the now infamous firebird video where the guy's car burns completely to the ground. Ah, I'll hold off on trying that.
Maybe I'll try filling a balloon with a propane and draging it through a lit candle with a string.

11.003 @ 120.56 1.50 60' drove it there and home. There's more left in it. This was conservative.

With a shot that made 90 rwhp on the dyno and 180 torque with manifolds and cats I picked up 18 mph so I do believe this is the way to go and is true. I hope to get a first hand look at this set up one day.

Hi, all I am very new to nitrous but I am ready to purchase a kit that is adjustable up to 150 hp for my bone stock 95 a4. The upside to this is I do co-own a propane business with my father. I am interested in setting this kind of operation up on my own. could someone help me figure out what I exactly need to do this. just keep in mind I only want to shoot approx. 50-75 hp. (for now) any help would be appreciated.

There appears to be several people who have passed tech with propane on board.
BTR performance has sent cars through NHRA tech inspection. Seems as long as the fuel is delivered with a steel line, all is well.
Bottles are DOT approved, shouldn't be any different than a nitrous bottle.

I don't have jetting recomendations for various hp levels. Not to mention this idea is in its infancy. Unless your able to monitor/manipulate your ecm, you could get into trouble quick.
It should be noted on Sunday I made two passes. The first pass (11.10) WOT o2s were in the .525 range average with multiple readings below .100. During street testing I had the car set up rich, so I thought. Turns out the propane solenoid fluttered open/closed at the track due to a voltage drop. She missfired in first and just a bit in second gear. Had I known it was lean, I'd have lifted. Gotta love freescan for the follow up information.
The second pass was much better with o2s averaging .875. There is a single dip in the readings in high gear, but nothing I could attribute to propane problems. I still have the stock fuel pump for the motor and the second dry kit (more than likely inadequate).
What is pretty cool is to watch the MAT temp drop from 50 to -4.
I'll continue to work on the propane injection for more reasonable gains of 100-150 hp. Not trying to run 10s.
