Newbie to nitrous

Hello,
I have a 1993 camaro with a 355 motor in it which consist of, 9.3compression Srp -24cc blower pistons scat procomp 7/16 rods stock crank and arp main studs ported heads with 2.00 and 1.56 valves and a cam 224/236-114 installed at 110 icl and long tube headers and ported intake will this motor be worth a crap on nitrous It was a blower motor pushing 10psi with procharger made around 575 hp on that i know or at least i think it should make around 375-400 hp NA i want to ad a wet kit. Can you guys advise me on brand and how much nitrous this can take, Is it harder on internals than a blower or about the same.

and i have 42lbs injectors and walbor 255lph fuel pump is that enough and what kind of tune should be in it close to stock or more of a blower tune

it will be fine on nitrous.....as far as the limits I would speak to SRP and your engine builder about the how much you can run. It will depend alot on the piston design and the ring gaps.

Since you had a blower on it I would guess you will be fine for 200 or so but I would hate to advise you without having all of the information in front of me. THe engine builder and piston manufacturer are always the best people to talk to about the limits.

ring gap

i know my ring gap is ok it is on the big side for even supercharged. I know srp pistons are not the best comparted to JE or ROSS or Diamonds. My other question basically is if i put a 200 shot on is that going to give me 200 flywheel hp on this particular engine with the way stuff is setup being a blower motor. What is the lowest Rpm you can you nitrous and what do you do If you powershift.

fuel

ok next question i have 42lbs injectors is it my understanding that i am going to be running the extra fuel for the nitrous not threw the injectors right so the computer tune don't need to be that much different than stock right

correct on the fuel injector/tune question...you will tune the car for max performance NA. THen I suggest using an external ignition box to retard the timing when the nitrous is active. Do you currently have an ignition box?

For the kit I would suggest our LT1 plate system....here is a link to the complete package...

Hp

NOW the biggest question what about Horsepower i mean a 200 kit going to make 200 extra hp on a stock engine what about one with lets say 400hp

And i wouldln't need the fuel pump or spark plugs or the ignition box i have msd 6al but i will switch to something msd but what is the window switch explain more very inteested defenityly coming to you for nitrous

The 200hp jets made over 200hp on my 396cid, AFR227 headed LT1

a window switch creats an RPM on and off point to keep you from spraying at to low an RPM or hitting the rev limiter on nitrous

rev limit

so you are saying engine blowen to piees or just big backfire explain more becausei hit rev limiter once in a while shifting so i should get a window switch, right now i have a msd 6al box what should i get for a box to retard timing like everyone else is doing

It depends on the rev limiter. If you are on the stock rev limiter it shuts down your fuel wich will cause you to go super lean and on a 200 shot you may be pullin pieces of piston out of your oil pan. If you have an aftermarket ignition they cut spark instead of fuel and are alot safer when hitting the limiter. I am running the mallory 685 box, It has window switch,rev limiter,timing retard,and more neat stuff if you are running boost.

so what kind of box should i run what is everyone running mallory 685 is that the one will i be able to hook a it up so i hit my nitrous and it retards timing a few degrees

If you already have the 6al just add their timing retard module....it sells for around $140 and can pull up to 15* I think.

THe stock rev limiter is a fuel limiter. but we have hit it on big shots and been ok. but its always scarrrrryyyyy. try not to hit it. especually on the spray. set the juice 200 bellow at least.
