n2o gauge position

I just had my bottle filled for the first time and the pressure gauge is now facing the floor. There doesn't appear to be a swivel adapter on the gauge to rotate it to face up or sideways. I just looks like the gauge with the -4 AN fitting ends up wherever it wants when tightened.

Does the big chrome nut act as a swivel on this setup? Or, am I missing something here? Do I need to buy additional fittings to be able to swing the gauge and adapter around? Can I safely loosen the big chrome nut without filling the room with 11 lbs of nitrous? Sorry to be so ignorant on this but please help if you can. Thanks.
