Talking My First BOOM With The Set-Up...

well, i was at the track this weekend, nothing new there. so i line up for my test run (first run of the day), and what do ya know, BOOM right off line. didnt move an inch. scared the crap out of me at first, thought for sure i popped the motor. but luckily, it's nothing TOO major, just a backfire. damage is as follows-

-elbow off TB is blown to bits

-two sensors are trashed (the one that goes in the bend of the elbow; and the one that plugs into the block/water pump that monitors the temp)

-fogger nozzle split in half

-front brackets for fans blew off and cracked in a few places

-radiator lip bent

-TINY dent in middle of hood

-hood brackets bent/loose

-fire retardent stuff under hood blew off/caught on fire

i think that's about it. i should have it up and running again in a couple of days. ill be getting the parts tomm on my day off and spending the day putting stuff back together.

so, remember kids, when playing with nitrous oxide, YOU play nice with it and IT will play nice with you.

CRAIGFFB-

backfire. when you spray too early with not enough RPMs the motor wont take it. or in this case, spray before the butterflies were even open (it's seriously not anything to laugh at though, im just trying to make myself feel better. cars have burnt to the ground from something as litle as a backfire.)

95GREENDRAGON-

wet kit. its a fogger kit i put together. nothing backyard or half-assed about it, it's just cheaper than buying a plate kit. everything was brand new and ive been using for several months now. this had nothing to do with the kit- all DRIVER error here

Yow!

No WOT switch? No Window switch? Not trying to give you a bad time, just wondering how you trigger your system if it can fire when your throttle blades are completely closed?

Well he should not have fired it that early. The reason many of do not run all the other crap is many times it fails and you are left loosing.

My present system is very simple. I turn on the bottle. Then i flip the switch and when it hooks i hit the horn

Only one switch and relay to fail. For over two years no problems.

Just part of the K.I.S.S. methode I personally do not like having a WOT switch only like many people run. I like having full control of the flow. Been Juicing since 88 this way

Good luck all!

i have an arming switch that powers the system on, then a button on the shifter that you press to activate the solinoids. like ONEFLYIN95 said, it gives you more control over your set up. however, this is a perfect example of how driver error can be just as bad as a switch failing.

that's why yesterday, i ordered a WOT switch for my new plate set up. from now on, i dont want to have to worry about my dumb *** making a mistake. just flip the switch and mat the go pedal
