Well i wired the red wire to the battery and the black one to ground to see if the unit would power on and it did nothing...Im wondering if there need's to be more hooked up or what im confused?

I just dont want to go and wire the whole thing up and then find out it doesnt work ya know!

Anyone have any thought's on why it's not powering on?

Well it is always hooked up to the battery and you don't want it always running when the car is parked, so that sounds normal to me.

If I remember right, my hifire had to be fully hooked up for the display to function. In other words, I think you have to be hooked into the ignition (coil) for the digital display to come up. If you just connect to the power alone it will appear that the box is dead.

Just a word of caution: be careful not to short the mallory box for the slightest moment. It blows an under hood ignition fuse immediately. Symptom: the engine just cranks but doesn't light.
