Likelihood of engine fire due to wet kit?
Likelihood of engine fire due to wet kit?
I'm starting with the plumbing in the engine bay and I am having some last minute paranoia here. Since this is a wet kit and the fuel solenoid basically has a hose running to the fuel pressure test point fitting, is it possible that after time or just some sort of freak failure of the AN hose, that fuel can leak onto the intake manifold and catch fire while the car is running? I know it says not to use the thread sealer on the AN fittings, but is it a good idea with something like this, or am I just thinking too hard into this one and just should let my mind at ease.
Re: Likelihood of engine fire due to wet kit?
Relax, and use absolutely no sealer! AN fittings are used on aircraft and boats and are about as safe as you can get. The intake manifold won't get hot enough to cause a flash fire. The fuel would have to come in contact with the exhaust.

And another thing, DO NOT overtorque it like I did. I had to get a fuel rail overnighted to me.
Luckily I got one used off a board member for $25, and I paid $80 altogether for it.

Yea, NEVER use any sealer on AN fittings....you can VERY easily create a leak if you do.......AN fittings don't seal by way of their threads like things with normal (NPT) pipe threads, they seal by the mateing of their opposing inner angles on their two (commonly 30 degree) surfaces, furthest inside the fitting...if any gunk(sealer) gets in there it "can" make the sealing surfaces uneven....and like the others mentioned, dont over tighten them.just a snugg will do

I had a leak on my fuel line goin from the port to the solenoid so in the process of taking it on and off tryin to fix the leak, I twisted the test port off. I scrambled to find one and I had to drive up to virginia to pick it up

It was by far the dumbest thing I've ever done while working on my car.
