Hey guys, well I like the Mallory 685 for the nitrous, but I also want the 1st gear lockout. Are there any options out there? I don't really want to spray in first gear.

You can always add controls in-line. There are nitrous control management units that you can put ahead of the Mallory controls. So yes, you can do what you want and still keep the Hyfire. They seem expensive to me but i guess money isn't much of an object when it comes down to all out performance.

You could try a timed delay like the cold fusion digi-set timer.

That's not actually what I was talking about.
What I was talking about is a time based controller only that would activate the system after "x" amount of time had passed...it's a cheaper alternative to a progressive controller.

As far as prog. controllers go, cold fusion has a new controller that is excellent.

If you look around on these nitrous supply places they have anything you can imagine.

Well the main reason for using the 685 is for the timing retard. I have found another controller that has everything I need but the timing retard. So if I can't find a reasonably priced solution, I'm just going to retard the timing via the PCM and just go with the other controller and forget about the 685.

Why not just add a pushbutton on your shift ****, in series with the nitrous system arming switch, and only press it after you've shifted to 2nd. That would make a lot more sense than intentionally screwing up your PCM timing to the detriment of NA power.

Or just run some 104 octane if your track has it available...that will take care of your timing concerns when you hit the juice.

To get the most out of your run though, get yourself a progressive controller and spray all through first gear and let it build up to full power. That's what I would do.

$65.00 from Tim McAmis race cars will get you a digiset timere that you can wire in and set for a time delay so that it will energize the nitrous after you have shifted into 2nd. the only thing you will need to do is by trial, find out how long you ar in first. If you need more info PM me

I was actually thinking about that. But I'm going to keep that as a last resort.

I already looked at that. But it doesn't have the timing retard.

If I am reading this correctly you are wanting to run the 685 for the ignition and timing controls, and a seperate box to lock out first gear.

All you need is to add our digital window switch ....
http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/catalog...product_id=964

Then you are not going to use the window switch in the 685.....
