The biggest question is what is the budget????

Also do you want a peaky powerband or alot of power under the curve...want it to hold up at the track or a dyno/street queen?

425 through a stalled auto and a beafy rearend is not an easy/cheap thing to accomplish.

The car I just posted a vid has a forged 383, AFR 195 Heads, 246/254 .613/.590 110lsa cam, Edelbrock Vic-E Single plane w/elbow, all the supporting mods, and only put down 414 NA.

My old combo: 396cid, Ported LT1 castings, Ported LT1 Intake, 222/228 .544/.538 112, T56, 10 bolt, made 422 rwhp NA...swapped to an auto and a 246/254 .613/.590 112 and only dyno'd 390rwhp...but was .3 quicker than the first cam with the auto.

Dyno # mean very little, track times are the true measure of performance.

i would be happy with 400 whp and put a little more nitrous i want it to be fast on the street and the track i really dont care about hp numbers i just would like a 11sec car all motor and a 10 sec on the bottle. is this realistic??

my current motor has well over 12K in it...don't know if I really want to add it up

I will ask again....do you have a budget for your build, or does anything go?

Speed costs....now how fast did you want to go

A shortblock will run 3-5K+ depending on options.
Heads $1500 and up
Cam 300 and up
you will also need ALL supporting bolt ons
Good tranny
Rear end
Suspension
Safety equipment
ETC
ETC
ETC

5k wont be enough for 425rwhp threw a auto. Prolly not even enough for 400rwhp. Figure 3.5 k for the bottom end, 2k for the heads and cam, than plently of smaller items 2k. Than n20 kit, safety items, rear end, suspension, chasis, etc.
A 575rwhp car is not going to have many stock parts, reason why? They break. Start collecting parts and you ll see how far the 5k takes you.
Some advice~search for deals in for fs section and ebay.

^He's right. If you want to lay down those numbers, even with an M6, its NOT gonna be a cheap. A full LE3 package would be pressed to do 425 on motor to the wheels. Stock bottom barely will hold that. By the time you do a forged rotating assembly, machine work, etc. your looking at a **** ton of money. Then you figure the A4 you have MIGHT hold it, but it also MIGHT not. So plan that into your budget. Your going to need a higher stall converter to match the cam you put in (Which will be LARGE) to make 425RWHP through an auto. This in itself though, will pull your RWHP numbers down, so you may see no gain (Numericaly) going with a bigger stall converter and larger cam, but it will run quicker. Make sure you p[rep the bottom end for nitrous (Ring end gap and such) that way when you want to spray more ( Cause you can never go fast enough ), you can crank it up. You will need a awesome fuel system, quality injectors, a very free flowing intake/exhaust. And pray your rear end holds up long enough to save the $$$ for a 9" or 12 Bolt.

Achieving those numbers at the wheels will be difficult, it will take a well built motor with all the goodies. On top of that, you will have to have a built up and stout shortblock to not only handle the heads/cam setup, but also the nitrous shot on top of it.

Also depends on weather or not you are doing the work yourself. That way, you are only paying for parts. Saves a lot of $$
