How much psi can a fuel solenoid take?
How much psi can a fuel solenoid take?
I am getting a carb plate system for my car. Its a carbed, HEI camaro....
Question is I have a Holley Blue electric fuel pump that puts out somewhere around 15 psi (IIRC). Can I run the fuel line then "Y" it off and have 15 psi going into the solenoid for the fuel and the other end of the "Y" going into the AFPR and then into the carb ( ~ 6 psi or so)?
thanks

I don't think much about carbs anymore, but looking at the setups on carbed cars there is usually a separate regulator for the fuel line to the solenoid. So, the fuel supply to the nitrous system should be "high" pressure, direct from the pump (a "Y" before the main FP regulator would be fine) and go to the dedicated nitrous FP regulator. The correct size of the fuel jet will depend on the FP as well as the size of nitrous jet used, so you need to keep this in mind when selecting jets.
Hopefully, someone more knowledgable about carb nitrous systems will chime in, but the above should get you started.

Depending on how much nitrous your spraying the motor will really matter if you can get away with one pump for motor and kit.
Personally I don't like saying the blue pump will be ok because really that pump is not the greats and under accelaration while on the spray honestly that pump can not keep up the volume nor the psi to feed both the engine and kit. But it will work considering your motor is mild and your shooting small 150 max IMO. I have seen friends use even mechanical race pumps back in the day feed both the engine and nitrous kit and spray 150hp and get away with it but the motors where very mild.
If you Y off your line make sure that you have one line going to the carb direct and the other is plumbed into a regulator for the nitrous. So one regulator for the carbs and one regulator for the nitrous fuel solenoid. Fuel pressure for the nitrous solenoid will be regulated to probably around 5 to 5 1/2 FLOWING psi.
Your motor fuel psi will be regulated to what ever is required for your combination wants but more then likely it will be less then 10psi.
