How much nitrous can my motor handle?

Hi, I was curious to know how much nitrous the motor I'm building for my car will be able to handle. We're building a 383 LT1 w/ all forged bottom end. 6" H beam rods, forged ross pistons (12.5:1 compression), splayed mains, yada yada yada. We're probably going to use a set of AFR 220's ported by GTP. Not sure on a cam yet, but probably a pretty big solid roller. We're doing the bottom end first... I'd like to put nitrous on it... I just don't know how big of a shot to get, what brand to get, don't know if I should get a wet, dry, or fogger kit.... So as you can see, I need some help Please tell me what you all think would work best for what I'm doing. The motor is going to be pretty high end. So I'm willing to spend a good penny on the nitrous kit. I just need to know which one to get

Thank you for the help

cool man! sounds like it ought to be a pretty radical motor.

but you might want to consider lowering that compression down some if you want to spray a big shot of juice. if your looking to run a 200+shot, a more sane 10.5:1 would run alot smoother and cause less trouble down the road.

if you lower the comp. down, with a forged bottom end and a good crank, your mouse should ready to roll. if it were me, id start with a 250-300shot and work from there. id prolly keep it under 500, but it wouldnt stay at 250 very long either!

good luck!!

I'm more after some real good n/a numbers... so that's why the compression is what it is. So what would my best choice be to run with the motor we are putting together?

Thanks

thats cool. if youve already decided on that set up, i wouldnt go anymore than 200. prolly start out with a 100 and go from there.

youll want a WET set up. dont let anyone tell you otherwise. you can put a kit together like i did for under 400 bucks. OR, you can spend 7,8,900+ dollars on whatever you want. i dont know what kind of budget your working with.

i simply bought a CARB'D kit from edlbrock good for 50-150hp and swapped out the plate for a fogger nozzle. its very simple, i have had 0 problems, and dropped off a little over a second off my ET on a dirty run with a 100shot.

good luck and keep us informed!!!
