How many keep their N2O tanks visible? Poll
Seems that the field is leveling out. It was biased to Non-Visible for a while. I talked with an ex-Sheriff today and in Cali it isn't illegal. However, if he is peaking inside with his flashlight it should not be hooked up but it really isn't inforced.
Also he mentioned an interesting point regarding theft. He said that if it is sitting out that there is a strong possibility that someone will crack the window to steal the bottle. If it is out-of-site, it is one less thing for thiefs to looks for...
It is interesting, but they can only steal the bottle... the lines, solenoids, and hardware are under the hood.

Bottles are expensive too. So much so that I have all of mine marked for indentification. I do try my best to keep them safe. They are in the garage when not in use or being filled. While in use, I try to leave them hidden and covered. The 10lb ones are easy, but it's the 15lb ones that are difficult.. hehehe
While in the car, well, it's a chance I have to take, but I lock the doors at non-home tracks when I walk away. At home tracks, sometimes I lock the doors and sometimes not, but I trust that at any track no one will break my window and grab my bottle. Might be too much faith in my fellow racers, but eh, I am a trusting soul.
That and the time it takes to get the heater off and the nuts (hehe) off, I just MIGHT return in time to kick someone's butt for touching my car...

everyone can see mine, pics in the sig, I like reaching back and opening the bottle instead of spening money on the bottle opener. I have only had it there for a couple months, I am about to move it to were the rear seats were.
I asked the Irvine Police Department in California regarding Nitrous Oxide in a vehicle... they sent me this email response.
Yes it is illegal to have a nitrous oxide system in your vehicle on a public road or highway. It is considered a modification of your emission system and subject to a citation and heavy fines. If you have a custom race car that you are trailoring to a raceway, and not driving it on the road, it can have a nitrous system.

Soooo, I suppose it is a good idea to keep the system concealed. Sure would be nice to mount on the deck or in the center of the rear seats. Oh well...

Dont have nitrous on my 3rd gen, but I do on my V8 S-10. The tank sits between the bucket seats so i can always tell whe the temp is around it.
I also have the line going straight down uner th carpet, and a dummy 2ft braided steel line under the tanks so when the cops pull me over and say "Is that thing hooked up?" I can say "Nope, see!!" as i pull up my dummy line!!

Laws seem to vary between states. That's why I contacted the Irvine PD regarding Nitrous in vehicles... unfortunately, the haven't responded to my request for a vehicle code violation number. I would like to read the fine print.
i keep mine right out in the open.

I put mine on the drive shaft tunnel. Very easy to reach and if you are just driving down the road Unless you are racing a truck no one see's it.Just the look on peoples faces is great. I have a purge too but I never use it on the street,Unless I am running slicks and the they know I am spraying. I go on the if they dont know dont tell. But here is a pic more in sig.bottle pic
